I was going to post my own but yours are pretty much what I'd put. Ferguson MOTM for me though, although Barton does emerge with some credit, his set pieces were not up to scratch today.

Barton wasn't up to scratch, 2's a bit generous for Sol, I'd give Jose a N/A considering he limped off early.

Agree with Smudger, Fergie for MOTM for us

Barton, player of the match? Why?

He was poor, very few of his long ball passes even went to a Newcastle player!

Why's everyone giving Shola poor ratings? Our best player today imo

Please tell me you arent serious? Shola was appalling. He just looks scared to go into aerial challenges with his mask on, so why is he playing?

Shola? Man of the match? What game were you watching?

Ferguson our best player, Barton gains respectability.

It was a poor result but not all of the individual performances were as bad as your points suggest. Ferguson and Shola in particular played well. On the other hand you must have watched a different game to me if you think Barton was one of our better players. Although I do think his main problem today was that he was rushed back too soon and obviously wasn't match fit.

Ferguson played well, but only when he had the ball, he didn't really do that much defensively. Shola was class first half at least and in the second half no-one played well at all

Shola was ****, ****ing ****. Why does he get to play ahead of Ranger?

Why do any of them? With the exception of Best (sometimes) Ranger outperforms whoever he came on for in one eighth the playing time.

I think the problem is Smudger that Ranger only seems to play that well when he comes on as sub. He drops his standard big time when he starts. And however long he is on the pitch he doesn't score. Until he finds the net I think Pardew will stick with more experienced heads.

    Harper 3
    Simpson 6
    Coloccini 4
    Campbell 2
Ferguson 7 (this is because of his impressiveness going forward)
Barton 5 (passing was decent but everything else was awful)
    Nolan 4 (offered nothing)
Lovenkrands 3 (utterly abysmal once again, baffles me how he keeps getting a start)
Ameobi 6 (our best chances were from him and would have done better with more service)
Ranger 6 (didnt get enough time as usual but looked very good in the short space of time, needs to start!!)
    Gutierrez 4 (non existant)

He hasnt started a game in the prem yet man you idiot, sick of people saying this, the one time he started which was in the league cup was when he scored! DUH.

Edit: realise I was a bit overly nasty there, bad day and all that <laugh> apologies.

Ameobi - not even going to go there. Ferguson looked decent, liked his Messi like moment in the 2nd half and he tested the keeper in the first half. Definately a winger though. Bartons delivery was poor all match. Lovenkrands may as well have stayed on the bus for all the use he was. At least Ranger got stuck in, was strong and had a decent shot in the second half.

Ranger never starts though. The only games he's been on since the start this season are cup games against Arsenal, (where he lead the line by himself) and Chelsea (where he scored from right wing).

Last season he had about 25 appearances, and the only starts I recall he scored against Coventry and had a great debut against Leicester (Lone Ranger pun <doh>).

You needed Bramble to shore up that defence today lads, Big Sol demanding big wages turned out to be a real blessing in disguise....

Didnt need Bramble as such, just didnt need to play 5 at the back. We're much more effective with a 4-4-2 and we had the players available for it.
