After not posting on here for a ling time, I thought id put some input into this board and give my ratings for the team tonight!

First off, what a big win that was. After the loss to Oldham, and the Brackley defeat, I think it was needed for confidence more than anything and although it wasnt great to watch at times, there was glimpses of great football and that much needed result came!

Nelson 6 - From where I was sitting, maybe could have done better with the first goal, but I could just be being harsh. Could do nothing with the 2nd and made a couple of fairly standard stops although distribution was poor at times

Harriman 7 - Standard decent performace we've come to expect from the on loan QPR man. Rarely beaten down the wing and looked good going forward

Daniels 7 - Strange MOM choice in my opinion, shaky first half with a couple of poor touches and passes, hopefully just first game nerves maybe. improved in the 2nd half and got a goal so hard to be too critical

Barret 8 - Led the back line well and really should have opened the scoring in the first 5 mins. How he missed im really not sure! Any answers?

Martin 6 - Blew hot and cold throughout. From poor pass to fantastic piece of play all night. Not his best performance in the shirt

Hollands 6 - Looked off the pace at times. Looked the weakest out of the central midfield however good assist for the winner

Hewitt 8 - Was very impressed with him. Seemed to play very central all game and helped boss the centre with John while playing somewhat out of position. Tackled and passed well all night.

Mousinho 9 - My man of the match. Him and Elliot in the middle looked so comfortable all night, earnt the penalty with a great drive forward and capped it off with a cracking header. Hope he can take this performance forward

Weston 5 - Didnt decide to start playing until the 80th minute when he beat more than one player down the win, just all to late. Before then seemed off the pace and uninterested

***an 7 - Was ok, Personally believe he shows glimpses what got him games in the prem, but seemed to go missing often. Assist for the 2nd goal was good.

Kedwell 9 - Close runner for MOM. Led the line brilliantly once again. Doesnt stop running and wins header after header. Great pen once again, was never in doubt

Mcdonald 6 (Sub) - Worked hard and looked good when he came on but needs to do it regularly over 90 mins

So overall I think we deserved the win. Was a nervy end with the goalmouth scramble but we held on, thats the main thing. Thoughts ?

Nelson 6- agree with 1st goal and made couple of decent saves

Harriman -7- good link up with ***an and good tackling

Daniels 6 - great goal but heading was poor and looked really nervous but good potential

Martin -6- decent game did what was asked

Hewitt-9- MOM for me , he showed what we have been missing this season someone who can sit and pull the strings

Mousinho-8- close to MOM great goal and good play for penalty

Weston-7- don't normally like him but much better today beat defenders , tacked back and put good effort

Hollands-7- average performance though controlled well

***an-7- good ball in for Daniels and good composure

Kedwell -8- great effort , top penalty and another great performance

I Have to say it was a much better performance than Saturday, even though we were losing at half time we had played better than Saturday but the second half was so much better and was the Gills that we all know and love.
I think a number of the players done really well, although Daniels had a great debut I don't think he was man of the match as he was a bit nervous and that showed with a few bad touches but I did see a lot from him that makes me think that he will be a good player for us, also a great goal.

Mousinho was man of the match for me, touch is very good and he can pass the ball well which is something that we haven't really had for a while. Overall I think the midfield was playing well as Hollands also played well.

This is the player’s ratings in my opinion.

Nelson 5- Probably one of his poorer games and a mistake with the second goal which he should have saved but we all know Nelson is a top keeper and he will bounce back from this.

Harriman 6- Happier to see him back at right back as him in midfield didn't work and he was all over the place Saturday but as a right back we all know Harriman is a decent player.

Daniels 7- Not a man of the match performance but a good performance, showed his nerves but that is expected as he is young, few bad touches at times but he will get better and if he scores goals like that often then he will become a fans favourite.

Barrett 6- Can’t believe he missed that chance from around 1 yard out; it must be harder to miss that then score. He was decent but not at his best, would still like to see Daniels and Davies at the back in the near future.

Martin 6- He was alright but not great, few bad touches and slipped over a couple of times.

***an 7- Very good performance from ***an, he works hard which is what I like, also I feel that we have more chance of scoring when he is playing. Decent link up with Daniels for the goal.

Hollands 7- I think Hollands played very well, looked decent and worked hard and tackled well.

Mousinho 8- Well I think he was brilliant last night, passing was brilliant and he just dominated midfield. From what I have seen so far from him he does look a good player and someone we should look at signing if he plays like this all the time. Also a good goal which won us the game.

Hewitt 8- I think Hewitt looked brilliant in the holding midfield position, looked natural and such a decent player. You can see that he is a brilliant player and that he is from the championship as he works so hard and has great movement in midfield. Shame we only have him for a month as I would like him at the club for the whole season as he was top draw.

Weston 6- This is a tough one, Weston in the first half wasn’t very good however second half in the last 30 minutes or so he worked very hard, still not at his best as at times he does seem too lazy and doesn’t seem to run full out but he was better and I think it was close to being a 7 out of a 10.

Kedwell 8- Another great performance by Kedwell and another great penalty making it 10 this season from him. Worked so hard and didn’t even lose the ball, held it up so well and works so much better than Bayo in that position. Give him a new contract now.

Man of the match was between Hewitt, Mousinho and Kedwell but I have to give it to Mousinho as I think overall he was the best player of the pitch due to all the passing and work rate as well as the goal.

Give Kedwell a new deal now. 40 goals for us now all together in about 110 games. Not a bad return for someone who some people on here think should be a midfielder...

I'm pleased that young Hewitt had a good game for you but the thing that surprises me is that he was recruited by us for the Right Back position! I would never have thought that he would be good enough as a holding CM!

I really hope that he continues to shine for you throughout his month's loan spell. This will do his confidence the world of good and hopefully Mick will give him some starts over the busy Christmas period. I will be reading your comments about him with interest from now on!

Whats this??? Players getting high ratings. For what it's worth I thought we were quite good last night, I won't rate the players because it's been done adequately already, but I am starting to see the green shoots of recovery. There are bound to be a few pitfalls on the way, but with Taylor bringing in what look to be good loan signings, I reckon we could be well into the top half of the season come May. I expect in January, one or two loans might go back, but I expect also that people like Legge ,Bayo, maybe Lee and/or Whelpdale,Davies and possibly Cody, will be loaned out. this should then free up some money to replace those that go. I'm getting more positive now.
