The Davies rumours have been around since the end of last season, but yesterday was the first time I've heard the "Player plus cash" being banded about. At the Birmingham end the press are speculating it's Jack Hobbs, our captain. Can't see Bruce letting him go, to be honest, but if the speculation about a Player plus cash deal is in the offing then who???? Won't be Alex Bruce, surely. Won't be Macca or Faye because they have new deals on the table. Chester, of course certainly not. So that just leaves Hobbsy who is entering his last year of his contract. Curtis Davies
As BS Man stated in another thread, it would be pointless for Bruce to swap a defender for a defender of similar ability and stature. Davies is also older (28 I think) and it would be pointless to basically do a 'like-for-like' deal and with us paying an extra £2million, we would almost come off worse. If anybody should be swapped, it should be Alex Bruce, as I believe the Championship is his level. He did a great job for us last Season but I didn't see any Premier League potential in him.
There's no reason why we have to be swapping a defender. They might have decent cover already. It could be Cairney, Mclean, Stewart or any one of a few others.
Fryatt should tempt some. He's a very good championship striker, but i don't think he'll make it in prem.
Problem with Stewart is that on his last loan moves he has shown he's no longer a Championship player. League 1 club may take him.

I don't know whether WE think about getting rid of Hobbs. That Hobbs is an attractive player for Brum is quite clear.
As Hobbs has absolutely no experience of playing against Premier League forwards, I cannot possibly see how you can make that judgement.
Two things: 1. Jack Hobbs is a decent Championship defender, lets not get carried away. 2. He's fell down to fourth in Bruce's pecking order, how often can he expect to play next season if he stays here?
Who says we are? I can't understand why people see paper speculation as cold hard fact when it comes to transfer rumours.
