This is a CH-discussion free thread. Enough has been said, no need for more. Anyone planning on discussing his situation (I don't think there's much to discuss) can kindly not post or go on another thread. Thanks Ruddy - 4. Should have done much better with a couple of the goals, though admittedly the rest he could do very little. Needed to be a little bit more vocal and I would have liked to have seen some more shouting at the defence, but it was quite clear he had virtually given up. 7 goals conceded from ten shots on target (I think at one point it was from eight on target) is just so far from good enough. Olsson - 5. Did ok. Looked one of our few threats. Defensively suspect, but got away with it more than the others. Turner - 4. Also did ok, but far too immobile, wayward passing and clearances and often fails to close down the defence. Bassong - 2. His worst game for us ever. Simply dreadful defending and looked completely without motivation. We need a leader, where are you? LET'S BE HAVING YOU Martin - 2. Best described as abominable. His passing looked to be more towards Man City players than our own. Johnson - 4. I actually thought he played better than against Man U, but his obvious shortcomings were highlighted here. Made a couple of decent runs, even a dribble, but he simply cannot pass. I'd like to say he protected the back four as expected, but he didn't. Fer - 6. By some margin our best player on the pitch, but there was nothing he could do here. Think he should have shot a bit more often when he had the chance. Howson - 4. Was he even on the pitch? Sme nice link up play with Fer on occasion, but I can't help but feel that was 75% Fer. Whittaker - 3. Clueless, mindless, discipline less. Everything "less". Pilkington - 4. Got in decent positions, but he too often ran down dead ends, didn't look for the pass and made poor decisions. Hooper - 3. Sorry Hoops, but this was just not good enough. Has to retain possession better. Elmander - 5.5. I thought played very well, ball stuck to him on occasion, he worked hard and he created openings. Didn't look for the pass enough though and also ran down too many dead ends, but at least he had the talent to turn and look up. Murphy - 5. Not really fair on him, being against Zabaleta. Didn't really do any wrong. S where do we go from here guys? Can't sign a new right back or centre back til January...
Pilkington really wasn't at all bad today. Just surrounded by utter mediocrity. I wonder if Snodgrass still seems such an awful player now?
I don't mark players but I do see what they are and are not doing during their shift, and agree with your comments. It is understandable that 1,2 or even three players can have an off day - but the whole chuffin team? Something is very wrong, very very wrong.
Yeah, he probably deserves a 5, not a 4, but there were several occasions where Hooper and/or Elmander were in better positions and he really should have looked up. Those were the ones that stuck in my mind. He, Elmander, Olsson and Fer were the only ones who could leave this with a modicum of pride.
Other than the second which ones could Ruddy of done more with? Had a terrible defence in front of him today! Felt bit sorry for him
I think Pilkington was our best player, maybe worthy of a 6. Our defence was awful, and I think Fer was worse than a 5.
Other than the own goal, the deflection and perhaps the free kick, they were all saveable. Not easy, but sveable. 7 goals from 10 shots on target is not good at all. Still, 4/10 is a good score for a keeper who's conceded 7. Fair enough, each to their own. I maintain Pilks use the ball poorly on occasion, but agree he was ok in the grand scheme of things. Fer, though, was much improved on Tuesday's perfomance. He seemed our only player capable of retaining the ball or of creating space. Our defence was a shambles, but I still think Olsson can just about walk away feeling he wasalright
It is impossible for the players to put in a good performance when there is lack of tactical awareness- but they did look as if they couldn't give a **** and were passionless fecks apart from Elmander
I was really impressed by Elmander today. Not that he had a particularly good game, but the contrast in performance with the others and given the circumstances. I think he has cemented his start next week.
Couldn't agree more, I hope Hughton sees how hard he tries (Don't worry, I'm not going to bring the manager into this thread. Van Wolfswinkel may be back in contention but in a game like that Hooper was next to useless whereas you saw Elmander back in our defensive third putting in tackles. He isn't particularly classy and lost the ball (all our players are guilty of that) but at least makes an effort to win it back. I wasn't having a go about Pilkington, I think most of your ratings particularly Ruddy are spot on. As soon as Snodgrass is available I would have him back in the team, Whittaker doesn't do it as a winger for me although those were desperate times.
Not seen any if the game and don't want too Was not impressed that we spent so much on Hooper but thought he played well against Cardiff but to be fair they were worse than us
I thought the 2nd & 3rd were down to him, & at 3-0 down with 25 mins gone your dead in the water ! I'm not going to go to hard on Ruddy as he's produced more blinding saves than gaffs, like last week against Cardiff, that save in the first half he had no right to make !
Howson - 4. Was he even on the pitch? Sme nice link up play with Fer on occasion, but I can't help but feel that was 75% Fer We see Howson is still up to his tricks, going missing
Have to seriously consider Ryan Bennett and Turner for West Ham or do we keep faith in Bassong despite having a bad season? I wish we had another serious option at centre back, would be my first January signing
