Oh Bradley, Bradley Johnson You lovable great fellow, Two more great goals, but then, you nit An avoidable yellow So trips to Leeds and Bolton Will be without yourself, I hope you won´t be left cursing At home there, on the shelf And though your place is open Now, for others to take, I fear we´ll miss your swashbuckling And goals you score and make And when you do return For that big ´Boro game, I hope as far as top two go We are still in the frame. OTBC - INIT
Hi RBF bor, would you have preferred Bradley to miss the Boro game ? He was going to get that yellow card and now suits us ok. Nice to see Becchio on the bench, what I like about this manager, he brings everyone into the reckoning. Rex ok ?
Disappointing he won't be there but we are not a one trick team oneil will step up and Jerome will score the goals
Evening NORKIE, I thought there was a cut off point at some stage in the season, which, if you managed to get past unbooked, meant that any more yellow cards didn´t cause any suspension, and I thought this weekend was it - but maybe I´m wrong. Certainly I´d rather have him available for the ´Boro game, and naturally we can find a body to go in his place, but I´m not sure we can find one who is such a goal threat as he is at the moment. The King is well, thank you
You're not wrong rbf. I don't really know what Johnson was thinking but hopefully we'll be okay without him. We should be, but the guy's earned us four points this weekend. Time for someone else to step up.
Bradders is my player of the season without doubt BUT, a yellow for a mis-timed tackle would be bad luck, but the yellow he got today was totally avoidable, I hope AN gave him the hair-dryer treatment! Still love him though, it was probably his passion for getting stuck in that caused him to make that error!
The ref told him to leave the pitch and re-enter at the correct point, but Bradders ignored him. Stupidly. Cut off point is second Sunday of April so a booking next Saturday would still ave resulted in a ban.
Am I right in thinking that if he had got a 2nd yellow and been sent off, he would have only had a one match ban?
AN seems to think it is for one game anyway! http://www.sportsmole.co.uk/footbal...allenges-squad-to-replace-johnson_215679.html
Norwich City manager Alex Neil has said that Bradley Johnson's one-match ban gives a chance to another member of his squad against Bolton Wanderers on Saturday. Johnson was given his 10th yellow card of the seasonagainst Sheffield Wednesday yesterday for re-entering the pitch without the referee's permission, after he was treated for an injury on the touchline. Neil told Sky Sports News: "It's obviously disappointing to lose Bradley for a couple of games but it is a squad game and we have other good players who can come in. This gives someone else the chance to impress and it will be up to him to take it. "It's a shame because it looked like an avoidable yellow card to me. Players always like to get back on the pitch quickly and whether than warranted a yellow card I don't know. But it is what it is and we have to move on."
IMO, it was inevitable that BJ would get his 10th yellow before the amnesty and I would rather he was around for the Boro game (I'm sure he's banned for 2 games, despite what AN is saying). I agree that it was a stupid and avoidable booking though. It will be interesting to see who is given the opportunity to 'step up to the plate!!'
Do people seriously believe that the 2 away games at Bolton and Leeds will be easier than the home game with Boro? I personally think that the next 2 games are our toughest left and where we will come unstuck.
Absolutely agree 1950, although I would say ´where we could come unstuck´, even more so without Bradders, who has recently been our main goal threat. Get over those two with 4 pts at least, and I´ll begin to believe we might be on to something.
BJ is a clever player and a good actor. No one could doubt when Tettey got his tenth yellow that it was contrived. BJ is better than that. He knew exactly what he was doing and I'm certain that AN has identified a way of winning the Bolton and Leeds games without him. He doesn't want the snarl of Bradley diminished for Middlesborough and the last few games - as the pressure increases. It's going to the wire and if we are near the wire we want BJ in the team and not constrained by trying to play it safe.
Yes, fair point 1950 and I guess the 2 away games will be tricky, but hopefully O'Neill can deputise successfully.
It is somewhat worrying to lose Bradders at this time as he has in recent games been our main potent threat upfront and indeed goalscorer to boot. I did comment recently that the remaining 7 games at that time looked winable but that is not to say that each one holds its own threat. Bolton away is going to be tough and it is interesting that their front two yesterday was Heskey and Gudjohnson, a combined age of about 73. I think that maintaining a clean sheet is important here and hopefully someone can score for us. Leeds have little to play for and on that score could be very dangerous. they will also be looking to get one over on their old boys and a point here could be acceptable. Boro at home should be O.K. as they have slipped up against the better sides when they have travelled and also in needing to win themselves could leave themselves open to our more attacking style. Rotherham away is not an easy fixture at all but they could be safe by then which could work for us. Then there's Fulham............
