I really believe it could now be lots of players Smithies? Ned? Robinson? Bidders? Lynch? Luongo? Freeman? Scowen?
For me, you can discount both Ned and Lynch who spent large parts of the season out of the first team. They may be playing well at the moment, but were missing during the winter when we were struggling for form. Smithies has been consistant throughout the season, and we would be in a much worse position if it hadn't been for his saves, hard to look past him. Robinson has been in fine form now he seems to have managed to shake off his injury problems, although the doubts over his commitment to the club may cloud some peoples views as to POTY. Bidwell is finally hitting form now he's being played in the correct position, instead of being flung out wide in a 5 at the back, but not a contender IMO. That leaves the middle three - each worthy for different reason. Luongo has now added goals to his game (at last) to go along with his work-rate and tackling, Freeman is a delight to watch but has recently gone off the boil and looks like he needs a rest, and Scowens work-rate and tenacity in the middle is also excellent, so little to choose between these. Couple of choices for young player too - Eze or Smyth - can't really see Manning or Furlong in the mix against these two.
If solely down to performances on the pitch it's Robinson for me, Smyth takes the Young Player award...
I thought Freeman would be the clear favourite for Player of the Season. Eze young Player of the Year. Though if Sylla scores a few more his laughing and smiling would win Player of the Season for me.
Probably Mass for me i love that he's amongst the goals now to add to his work rate and consistent performances.
Freeman carried us for months. The new system works to his detriment but he’s been the best player over the last nine months IMO. Think Smith deserves a mention too.
Luongo. Still not the finished article but much more consistent than previous seasons and can truly dominate the midfield on his day. Just don't play him when the weather's cold
Freeman has had such an awful 2nd half of season that I've almost lost patience with him. Not quite as bitter as I was with Chery because Freeman obviously does want us to win. But his decision making is often worst on the pitch in the last few months. To be honest, no one has been very consistent. I'd say Luongo is my pick because he only had a short dip in form. Otherwise, he has put in some excellent performances.
