    **UPDATE**

Sorry, just noticed a typo, the last name on the list should be HULSE, not hules.

Hill or Mackie for me, but Hill edges it simply because he was written off as too old and slow. He also went out on loan and came back into the side for the scum home game.

Has been superb ever since. Top effort from him.

Hill. No question. If we stay up this guy deserves a huge bonus.

Hill. He's been a stalwart in defence. Adel's performances the last games brought him close though!

PotS has to be (and is, judging by our responses to date) all about Hill or Mackie. Separating them for our acolade on here, is like separating head and heart.

Fact is, in their contributions Clint and Jamie have shown plenty of both - but whilst the wing position offers greater opportunities for glory, taken brilliantly at times by Mackie, our season actually turned on sorting our back four out and realising that Hill was the man to partner Anton.

Since then, the Chelsea fiasco apart, we've rarely looked back - and certainly Clint Hill has hardly put a foot or head wrong throughout his stint at CB. There's no denying the guy's been immense, both in consistently solid and disciplined performances and in his unrelentingly passionate influence on those around him.

Question is, if you had to choose one, which out of Hill and Mackie would you place on your current teamsheet first?

    Clint Hill for me.

Ironic that the only two men in contention for player of our first season back in the top tier, were Warnock acquisitions for the Championship... and the one he all but ditched earlier this year, is the one who's done so much more than most to keep us in with a shout of staying up!

And, you will remember Brix, how totally underwhelmed we all were when both were signed in the summer of 2010...

This isn't clear cut at all. The reason is that most players haven't played the full season and have either had injuries or fallen out of favour (or in the case of Barton, perservered through a dip in form).

In the end it comes down to a more heartfelt and subjective view.

My vote goes to Heider - his goals in the first half of the season weren't backed up by lots of other players scoring and we were heavily reliant on him to have those points that have kept us in contention prior to the January squad enhancements.

Incidentally, I rate that Hules guy a lot higher than Hulse.

Voted before I read the thread, happy to see Hill's contribution so well appreciated.

For me it's a non contest, and I'm so proud of Hill, to come back like he did after being written off by almost everyone around, stunning.

These are my reasons for giving it to Hill:
1: To come back after getting sent off on the first day and being loaned back to the championship, major achivement and a testament to the man's character.
2: Since he was put to partner Anton the defence finally got shored up.
3: Most consistent performer, by a mile.

    Honorary mentions:

Heidar Helguson. Scored some vital goals and kept an attacking outlet for us before christmas.
Jamie Mackie. Have improved immensely during the season and established himself a Prem player, something that was not a given considering his serious injury.
Adel Taarabt. What a change from a player that seamed unchangeable. Credit to both the lad and Sparky and his team.

Look what I did there? All my player of the season candidates were the ones that got us promoted last year, coincidence? Think not.

Too right Sooper. And not forgetting Shaun Derry - who'd also be in the reckoning for PotS had Hill and Mackie not done so well on their returns to action.

    Spoiled paper QPR.

Suggest you create new PotS poll (just the one) featuring only Hill, Mackie and one or two of the more feasible candidates.
