Player contracts

I've been on holiday for a couple of weeks so not been following discussions on not606. I'm up to speed on all the latest comings and goings, but looking at the club's website I see that Stephen Kelly and Bjorn Helge Riise have player profiles. I thought both of them were out of contract - anyone known anything about them?

Also, I was certain that when we signed him from Liverpool Kaca only arrived on a two year deal but I've since read somewhere that he's got another year to run. Anyone confirm this?

 

I thought Riise Jr had been let go, Kaca is still about but I've not heard anything about a new contract. Kelly is anyone's guess.

Allow me. Riise the younger has been released from his contract. Kaca is still with the club and traveled to Germany with the rest of the team and Kelly and Duff have been given extra time off due to their involvement with the Euro's, although the signing of the German right back from Cologne could spell the end for Stephen.

 

Ah, that makes sense about Kelly, Bandonator 5000, I hope he gets signed up, he's a great squad player. Strange that no announcement on Kaca has been made, I was sure his contract was up this Summer?

 

It's strange that nobody's contract has been extended. Murphy and Pogrebnyak's contracts were up this summer and were subsequently released. I would assume Kaka is going to be given an extension if only for sale on value.

 

Shirley Murphy was offered an extension but Blackburn offered 2 years and guaranteed regular football? And we did offer Pog a deal but we all know how that went. I can't believe we've only given Kaca a contract with a view to selling him on.

 

What you say is correct Bandit. Riise Jnr has definitely been released. The position with Kaca and Kelly is unclear in that they are still officially Registered with the Club but we don't know whether they have been given and/or accepted new contracts. Since the Club has said nothing publicly it has to be assumed that matters are 'ongoing'. Nothing unusual in that but frustrating for us fans.

 

I would be devastated if Kaka was to be released this summer. I genuinely see him taking up Dempsey's role the season after next as I don't think he's quite ready just yet, but has shown an awful lot of promise.

 

Here here, he looks the real deal (or could be).

Thanks Fulhamish. You are absolutely correct his contract is indeed till 30/6/2013. Wow, that's is a relief and apologies for getting my knickers in a twist.
