It would appear that Newcastle do not have relegation clauses, however, Sunderland, according to the tabloids have clauses inserted into player's contracts as a matter of course.

I wonder how much desire the French lads will show in the coming relegation fight when they know they'll either not lose wages or will be shipped off to a club that will pay their wages ?

Our lads face a 40% cut upon relegation .. that would be incentive enough for me !

I still think Wigan will flounder but I am nervous to say the least !

It refers to the 5 signed in January.
The rest do and these were inserted after we came back up.

To be fair fella, given we are both on the same points, a relegation clause hasn't really helped or hindered our respective falls down the league.

It does help if you go down though

    Financial protection rather than motivation

You are right Albert but the point I am trying to make doesn't relate to how we got where we are but more about the motivation to do something about where we are.

Many teams will coast through the season thinking relegation will never happen to them. I think in a relegation scrap the attitude requirements are different IMHO although I may be wrong.

I am hoping we both stay up as I would hate a season without the two derby games.
