What Pep Guardiola said to Bristol City manager Lee Johnson following late EFL Cup defeat Bristol City boss Lee Johnson has revealed that Pep Guardiola told him his side played better than most Premier League visitors to the Etihad in Tuesday’s EFL Cup tie. The Robins, who stunned Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United in the quarter-final to set up a semi-final clash with runaway top flight leaders Manchester City, conceded a heart breaking last-gasp equaliser in Manchester meaning they trail 2-1 going into the second-leg. At the full time whistle Guardiola looked to share some impassioned words with the City manager, in a similar yet not so aggressive fashion to his encounter with Nathan Redmond following Southampton’s late defeat in November. Johnson, though, revealed that the Spaniard was full of praise for his players, and he was equally proud of them. “Pep Guardiola said to me that we played better than most of the Premier League teams that come to Man City,” he told reporters. “We will take an awful lot from it and learn a lot. It is not over. It will be an interesting game at Ashton Gate. "I'm proud of the football club tonight. It's half-time, we're still in the tie. "I thoroughly enjoyed it. The buzz continues and the build-up to the game will be very exciting." https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/fo...n-following-late-efl-cup-defeat-a3736326.html
Pep Guardiola said we played better than most Premier League sides that have played there, that is good enough for me, we are where we deserve to be, nothing more, nothing less, quality.
£350 mil worth of players along with possibly the best coach in the world...Two world class and I mean world class players scoring their goals I think we did rather well..
That was an excellent performance guys - as good a planned and disciplined game from any Championship team I've seen this season and it came against a quality side that in all honesty should have rolled you over. Brilliant team ethic that very nearly overcame the superstars, and for all their "class", you probably deserved a draw. Whatever happens in the second leg, and I certainly wouldn't rule out a reversal of last night's scoreline, you've gone through this Carabao competition with huge credit. Gritted teeth maybe, but I wish we could string a few performances together like that.
