100% agree with Suso. Maybe even Teixeira or Ibe.

We need to finish as high as possible so I wouldn't start with any youngsters but have them on the bench so that if the unthinkable happens and we are winning comfortably (just use your imagination) they can come on then with no pressure.

    This.

Plus we have to continue building momentum ahead of next season. Strongest team plays every game.

I'd agree with that but some of the first teamers aren't performing well enough and need a volley up the arse. I'd give a few youngsters some time give them a chance to prove something with much less pressure on the results.

Nothing to play for? Until we can mathematically no longer move up a position there is something to play for.

At the top end of the table one position could mean a million quid or two difference in financial distribution.

A chance to deny Everton the "we actually finished above Liverpool in 2013 trophy".

Plus... every year new fans in Malaysia look at the table to decide who to support. Higher we are... more chance we have to earn their simoleons (whatever Malay money is) over their lifetime.

Or rather... counterfeiters in Thailand AND us get to split their money.

Not saying don't play youth... but a few million could mean the difference between getting a good CB and getting stuck with Swansea's Ash Willy instead.

Play youth... but also play to win.

    1. carragher. if we don't TRY someone like wisdom who's got games under his belt then whats the point? even coates...

    2. I simply have to say that henderson, coutinho and sturridge are enough kids really. where do we thing this endless conveyor belt of talent starts and ends? it only starts when a kid is the real deal. only suso and sterling merit a slot and they had their experience and both showed they needed rest and a flat track for a while. suso looks great at u21 lvel cos its easy. Teixteira, ibe, rodden, morgan... they need to go do more in miy view to displace someone.

    3. we played what many here think was out best side v reading and still flopped. As a result do we think kis will improve that or what?

Plenty of youth players have had their chances this season, some did really well, others not so good. BR has started bleeding in the youth, it's a slow process, you can't bleed in too many during one season. For me the young players that have made a claim this season are Hendo, Sterling, Wisdon, (Coutinho and Sturridge....although both signed). Suso for me is a very good player, but when you look at the difference between him and Coutinho (playing similar roles) - Coutinho is hands down a better player.

The youngsters ready to make the step up have already played their part this season - I personally don't think any other youth players are ready to step up quite yet. The likes of Ibe, Morgan, Teixteira, McLaughlin, Coady, Sama etc. - should wait at least another season before they play with the big boys.

I also 100% agree with Milky - we always have something to play for, even if a trophy is out of the question.

I wish both you you guys attitudes was shared by the players. they are in holiday mode already and i've seen it too many times before. its a malaise and next to impossible to eradicate. we cannot lt seaons dissapate with 10 games left. we need to hammer players and its rodgers who needs to do it.

i think Wisdom should play rest of season at CB. Only way to find out if he is good enough if we arent going to give these players a run whats the point in them staying.

Start of the season our young players outshone alot of the experienced players and we have seen nothing of them last few months.

What's the point having kids if your not going to play them. I can't see Rodgers getting more than £20m in the summer unless he moved people on, but we already have such a thin squad, I'd happily play suso as I think he's class

Over the last few months I've watched a lot of U21 Football, and I'll tell you something.. Suso is cut above any player I've seen for any team, he clearly belongs in the first team squad at the very least. And he's not just been great on the ball, off it he's tracked back every match and worked hard, there was one match against West Ham, the conditions were truly awful but his composure on and off the ball was second to none. I'm not sure what he's done wrong to warrant being dropped down to that level, but I hope for the rest of the season and pre season he gets given a good go.

Honorable mentions to Ibe and Mclaughin who have both been menacing too, I have big hopes for both and I'm very confident they'll be playing at the top level of competitive football whether it be for Liverpool or elsewhere.

Teixeira has been very good too considering he's just came back from a lengthy injury, clearly a lad with a lot of talent but I'd still like to see him have a consistent impact on a game like Suso and Ibe have, the boy is getting better though with every passing game and if he keeps his head straight and his feet on the ground he can go far.

With all that said Pacheco was superb at the start of the season, producing some top notch performances but it looks as if his time with us is all but over. Which indicates the first team management is looking for more than just pure talent and flair. Will certainly be an interesting pre season with possibly Ngoo coming in too.

Absolutely <ok> and for me the best way to do that is make some of the first teamers sweat over their places for next season. I see no harm in giving the likes of Wisdom, Sterling and Suso more game time...mainly because they WILL put a bit of effort in and not just go through the motions.

  15. I agree with this but being signed for £9.5m has got to be a pretty big confidence booster <laugh>

What's the point in playing kids for the sake of it? Surely it is better for both the individual and the club if they earn the right to play rather than being 'thrown-in' because we think our season is over?

I've said a few times, we should aim for two players per position with the youngsters being third, fourth, etc choice. If they are good enough then they will rise to the top regardless of what other players are put in front of them. Plus, having players in front of them gives them a role model to learn from too.

Agree with all of that but....(you knew there'd be a but)...some of the first team players aren't pulling their weight so it wouldn't be playing the youngsters for the sake of it. It would be primarily to try and get results...would Suso have been any worse than Sturridge or Downing recently? Would Wisdom have not been worth a couple of games instead of Johnson? I'm not talking every game here but personally I think it's worth the risk now. If we were firing on all cylinders it would be different obviously but as we're underperforming with the first teamers it makes sense to give the younger ones a go.
