what do you reckon on your chances? I've not been following your results or team activities for a while and was just wondering, what's turned your season around since the Chesterfield game?
I know but about time too....JS walked into a very difficult job and obviously took a while to get team sorted but full credit to him....tomorrow will be a good indicator of what's to come so 3pts would suggest Argyle are on a serious promotion push...hoping for a bumper crowd and Banton does well.....
Hi brb......no real outstanding teams this season...I would say 50% of this league have a chance of going up.......unfortunately for us the Sheff W loanee Caolan Lavery as been recalled, he looked a natural goalscorer and fitted in well with Reuban Reid who has now scored 13 times. Jason Banton has returned full time and is a bit of a show off....but he can score goals....six last time in not many games and was top scorer when is loan term finished. There is momentum at present and with a reasonable defence things look encouraging....Saturdays game with Southend will show us how far we have come.
It's a good question Brb but I'm not so sure the answer is that simple or indeed if Argyle have turned their season around. As Plym has said this is a very poor league this season although it's poor most seasons. There is no one club setting things on fire and you only have to look at the gap between the top side and bottom side. It is far less than in the other leagues. Technically even the club at the very bottom could turn the tide and reach at least a play off place. Ergo my question have Argyle turned their season around or not. We are scoring goals now which we weren't at the beginning. By accident we might have discovered a 20 goal man even if most of the supporters were dripping about the same player earlier in the season. Some of our other players have finally turned up and there has definately been an improvement. Defence reasonable, midfield still sometimes lacking but doing ok and forwards tucking them away in enough quantity to win matches. I don't think Sheridan has changed much at all apart from tweeking the tactics a bit. I think he has picked up the right players at the right time this time around which has given us the momentum. Lavery for example had not scored in senior football until he started a match for us. Then scores 3 in 3. Pity he got recalled but we now have Banton. He was starting to be prollific last term and his goals did a lot to steady our ship then. If, and it isn't certain of course, he can restart where he left off and with Reid now doing nicely, we may not miss Lavery at all. All I would say at this point is that we have a chance of a play off place and an outside chance of automatic. Long way to go yet and wheels very quickly come off at this level. I would be shocked if we went down now is as confident of anything I could be. I have my fingers crossed.
To be honest not a clue BRB.. Bury form could be BSPL next year . From what I saw when I was back home....Got the points against Bury against a toothless poor side, sorry to Bury fans and good luck!!!! Far the better team and deserved the win against top of the league side in Oxford. Reid has a great return over the last month or so, tho that includes pens and FA Cup against non league. For me could go either way but hope he keeps knocking them in, needs a partner tho. In a dominant team he scores but look back on his record and he is not a form changer. Lavery will be missed. Banton, hands up I was laughing a couple of days ago at the rumours, really thought our only chance was at the end of the window if no one else picked him up. Hopefully he can hit his goal scoring form for us last season, but at least form a good partnership with Ben on the left considering their age its promising for the future. Blizzard was the suprise for me..... everything I heard or read was he could not beat a 1 legged man in an arse kicking contest but thought he was 1 of our best against Bury and by far the best against Oxford. So BRB answer for me is who knows if u have money to waste and the odds are good auto but lay off on relegation if necessary!!!!!
We will be in a play off position mid February!!! Mt prediction beginning of season was a 3rd place finish.. still on for that..
