A few weeks ago I was pointing out how our run in might make a late push for the play offs a possibility if not a likelihood. Since then we have hung in there and now i dare say there will be a few putting an outside bet on. So what needs to happen? Well, Blackpool have played one more and Birmingham and Middlesbrough are still to play, so we may have only two wins / 6 points to make up assuming that we can beat those two. Some of the sides in the top 6 will fall away but others outside it will surge and we can expect someone slightly above us to win most of their remaining games. We really need to hit 75 points to be around sixth place this season... and that means we have to win all but one of the last 9. We've got the momentum and we've seen sides like Sunderland before, QPR last season and even reading this season pull off similar runs so its not impossible. Let's remember there's nothing to lose and all to gain!
My concern is there is alot of teams in between us and the playoffs and we have been on a very good run of form, which surely has to faulter a bit before the rest of the season!!
Ordinarily ptc - but the circumstances are extraordinary. This is the best we've played and our best results in half a decade. Every match we win our confidence will become greater and that sixth spot gets nearer, the more people will believe and the more the opposition will fear us. It's set up for an exciting time, particularly because the line is so fine so we know that any more than one more defeat or draw and we can forget it altogether... the players know that.
Our recent history suggests that our 1 and only defeat we can afford in our last nine will come this Saturday, Watford away.! I think this will be around my 6th trip there & have only seen us win once....fingers crossed for a change in fortune. Playoffs are out of reach but a top ten finish is possible, COYBs.
Hoppers Even i don't think play offs are out of reach!!! It is possible to win all remaining games, as mentioned above, Reading have done it this season. Not saying it will be a cake walk but........
its possible but its not just about us, we have to catch up about 10 points which means others need to drop points.
We are having the same discussions at Watford. I think Saturday will put it to bed for one or other of us (or both if its a draw).
I read the original post and stand by my comment. If we win all of our remaining games it doesnt matter unless the teams ahead of us drop points. We realistically have to gain 10 extra points than the likes of Blackpool/ Boro/ Brummy/ Cardiff and Hull to jump them. I would expect one or two of these clubs to go off form but for all of them and the other teams closer to us to to drop points is unlikely. Its not impossible but I would be surprised if we did make it.
We are supposed to be unified at the moment so let's leave that right there... it's good to be able to debate this properly
Never mind Ipswich getting in the play-offs, what about my ****ing mortgage?!?!?! Stop ****ing winning, bastards.
I'd forgotten all about that Carra - five points wasn't it?! I will buy you a tent with a Suffolk Punch on the side so don't fear homelessness
