The only reason I dislike teams like Barcelona and Real Madrid is that any time they get brushed they roll around like they've had their legs broken by Chuck Norris. Makes me sick, really does. Does the game a disservice and derbies like El Classico would be even better without the unnecessary acting.
Chuck Norris I love that guy!He let's us live haha. Yeah,he would smash them up alright! Spanish and Portuguese players are always diving.
This is why I can't watch foreign football. Maybe I would like La Liga but the amount of diving, free kicks given, yellow cards handed out etc really puts me in a bad mood. Also, the league is far too easy for Real Madrid and Barcelona - it's like the SPL! I swear I always see Real Madrid and Barcelona winning about 6-0!
I watched tonight and it was a disappointing affair, although Alves' goal was brilliant. There were also a lot of indignant punters in the pub criticising the diving etc, which is a shame but you see the crowding around the refs (aka Chelsea and Man U) and the card waving and the diving (Downing against Man U earlier this season was shocking) here too.
You're generalising a bit. I don't think you'll ever see Messi, Xavi or Iniesta dive. Probably not Villa, Puyol or Pique either. In the Barca team it's mainly just Mascherano and Biscuits who annoy me. I haven't seen a lot of Alexis Sanchez but he looks like the kind of guy who might go down easy. Overall though, I wouldn't say they're a bunch of cheats.
I dont see why any player goes down its just embarissing I dont even like it when our players do it, but thats one thing going down like theyve been shot and rolling around on the floor is just pathetic. Its why rugby fans think football is soo soft.
Rolling around is a sign of cheating. Most injured players just lie there or sit up clutching the hurt body part. If the British don't have the need to roll around, why should europeans?
Loved watching Barcelona humiliate Manure in the Champs league final but would not generally watch continental football. I maybe a dinosaur but there are more than a few things in the modern game i hate ie brightly coloured boots twats who wear their socks above the knee time wasting and most of all jessies who pretend they are hurt. My favorite type of player always were toughies who could also play a bit in the mould of Graeme Souness or Jimmy Case
Messi dives like all the rest: I've also found the real reason that cruise ship capsized. please log in to view this image
The rolling around and feigning injury might not be so prevalent her, but diving and going down far too easily happens a lot. Grant Holt is one of the players who has mastered the art of looking for the slightest touch and falling over convincingly. Lee Barnard often tries the same sort of thing. Lambert usually stays on his feet, so defenders think they can get away with jumping on him, which they usually do.
Jimmy Case - what a player. Not sure he'd survive theses days. Would be suspended more than he played!
Fully agree - Busquets is a quality player but he's a cheating little prick (champions league semi v Inter). Messi gets hacked a hell of a lot and just gets on with it. The first thing I think of when I read the words play acting is Rivaldo's outrageous piece of cheating in the 2002 world cup. And he had the nerve to say he would do it again as the player deserved to be sent off! Cheating little ****
Are we not Europeans too . I was surprised how much Fabregas was involved in the going down easily stakes (although that makes it sound worse...)
Last night I watched a bit of Liverpool/Man city, Barca/Real and Equatorial Guinea/Senegal. All decent games in their respective ways, except for this.............
