Plavotic performance is probably a one-off, he's set to go straight back to Bristol City By James Young | Posted: February 05, 2017 please log in to view this image Tin Plavotic on his Cheltenham Town debut On Friday night the Plavotic family were looking forward to being at Bristol City's game against Rotherham at Ashton Gate, to watch the club that young Tin had signed for just four days earlier. Having completed his move from SC Pasching to Bristol City on deadline day, 19-year-old Tin was looking forward to showing his parents around his new home. He was on his way to the airport night to pick them up when a call came from Cheltenham Town boss Gary Johnson saying that he should be ready for a far busier Saturday. With Dan O'Shaughnessy reporting ill after training on Friday, Plavotic was put on standby and then called up to play against Newport as the Robins enacted their 'emergency' loan agreement. "It was late on Friday night and I was just settling down to watch the football and I got a call from Gav Crowe to say Dan was struggling and didn't feel he could play," Johnson said. please log in to view this image "I hadn't spoken to Tin at that point. I left a message on his Austrian phone and then found out he had an English one and left a message on that. "Later that night I spoke to him and he was fine. He was picking up his parents and I told him that to be ready and that I will confirm with him in the morning." Plavotic had met his new Cheltenham teammates for the first time that morning as he took part in the Friday match preparation session, playing in an XI against the team that was set to play. Despite his unfamiliarity with his new teammates the 6ft 6in defender, who is of Croatian descent, filled in admirably and gave a solid first showing in English football. please log in to view this image It may still be a one-off however as if O'Shaughnessy recovers from his ailment Plavotic will return to Bristol City to train and play for their Under-23s as was specified in the original loan agreement. "His mum and dad were pleased as they were due to come over and watch the Bristol City game with him in the stands but they saw his League debut instead," Johnson added. "I am sure they would have enjoyed his very steady performance. "The situation remains the same, we didn't expect to have had to bring him in so soon. We thought we may have needed him a bit later on with an injury. "But the fact that he's a left-sided centre-half made it an easy decision for us to make." http://www.gloucestershirelive.co.u...bristol-city/story-30112797-detail/story.html
