The distance is not an issue. What Platini proposes will be about the same as that, where 3000 miles can be covered from West to East within the 20 countries of Europe. And if the proposal works, it will be a crowning achievement of whole of Europe to get together and work it out. In fact, fans will initially have to travel LESS, as their teams won't have to cross thousands of miles to play at their next stadium but will be centralized to certain regions of the 12 countries to favour the groupings, therefore the costs of the planes, hotels and movement will be less! The draw for the European Championships has been rather unkind to England in 2020. Their first game, against Switzerland, will be held in Lisbon, Portugal. The second game, 5 days later, sees them take on Croatia in Istanbul, followed another 5 days later by facing tournament favorites France (who played in Eindhoven and Osloin their first 2 games) in Stockholm. That'll be a whopping 5959 miles of traveling in 10 days. Can anyone nOT see Platini trying this?
