Platini has come out in favour of a sin bin for a first yellow card. Have to say I agree 100%. This does 3 things. 1. Immediately punishes the player and his team, in the match where the offence was committed. 2. Immediately rewards the team offended against, but only for a short time. 3. Virtually eliminates players giving away professional fouls, because the consequences become more serious, and the rest of the players get the major hump. My only concern is that refs need to be much more even handed in their decisions. Nothing is perfect, but this is a very good start.
Take Ice Hockey's example. Green, Yellow and Red cards. Yellows are too common to be sin binned for every time.
I go along with Blatters idea! In principal its better than the yellow card, with its 5 yellows =suspension! Lets hope the idea gets on the debating agenda!
Hmm...... depends on the length of time a player gets sin binned for; can see the system getting abused. Blatters suspension idea is on the right lines.
