Heres one for you all. The term plastic fan gets shouted out quite a lot. Crikey, i've said it myself. But what exactly, in your opinion, IS a plastic fan?
Who gives a **** whether you're the 12 generation of your family to support your club or whether you were brought up within spitting distant of the ground? If you genuinely care for your team, if it really matters to you whether they win, lose or draw then you're a 'real' fan.
easy, people who support the current top teams, chelsea or Man utd, and have absolutely no connection to the club or the town the club is representing (family connection or otherwise). basically just so they can hav bragging rights whenever footballs brought up in conversation. its a "my dads better than your dad" mentality. ....Though this is easy beaten once you question why they support the team. Note: the exception to this rule I would say relates to when your a kid and first get into football, as a lot of young uns choose to support the top team at that time, thats ok in my book as thats when you get a real connection to club of your choice.
and? go on.......... i saw on some ones tagline "if you have to ask why, you'll never understand" or something like that. I thought that was very good.
Fans don't go to games, SKY is their best friend. Supporters do, hence the word 'supporters'. They support their club by attending matches.
supporters go to the games, give vocal support as well as financial, fans are fans of something, i am a hull city supporter, but im a fan of barcelona, i love watching them..but i cant claim to be a barcelona supporter, or take an bragging rights or glory when they win..
and then there are followers I follow KR, I like to check there results and catch the odd few mins comentry on the radio but dont go to games or even know many of the players so cant class myself asa fan or supporter Ive been called a plastic City fan because I dont go to games (well only a few each season) but that is due to not having the time or money to spare now Ive got a family of my own,but it doesnt mean I love my club any less I just have greater priorities
not everyone can afford to go though. or what if you moved away for work or family? i get what you mean but i think that may be a bit simplistic.
So if you happen to work weekends and can't make games that means you're not a supporter? Biggest crock of ****e I've ever read.
I work with a lad who claims to be a Man Utd 'fan' and refers to them as 'we' in coversation, yet on more than one occasion last season he didn't even watch them in the Champions League when they were on the ****ing telly!!! Sad as ****.
If you're turning up to the games and paying the money then fair enough, every clubs going to gain more fans as they get better and lose them as they get worse its life. Everyone has a 2nd club they like to watch anyway for me its Arsenal.
You silly twat. If you have a reason not to attend games then it's understandable. But if you just don't bother going then your not a supporter.
Anyone who doesn't go to games (Unless it's for Financial reasons or work commitments) Anyone who has a team in their town but supports a 'big' team. Anyone who sits in and has a starter before a football match. The basic three, I could go on.
Any Irish **** who supports Celtic when they have teams in the ROI to support. FFS, I wouldn't support Scunthorpe if I lived in Scotland!
