I notice Hodgson may use psychologists as part of the WC preparation in case penalties are needed http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/26332893 I wrote to the FA after our last failure at the 2012 Euros suggesting another solution. A PL 'penalty' league whereby a penalty competition is held either just before kick-off or before the second-half at every PL game. English players have to be used in preference to 'foreign' players (subs can be used). Limited to 5 pens each, winner 2 pts, draw 1 pt each, etc. Trophies for the winners and individual best score ratios, etc. The aim being to try and re-create (I realise it's not perfect) a high pressure situation for English players to take penalties in a competitive environment in front of thousands of fans. I received a response that it would be put forward to the necessary committee (ie the bin no doubt) but I still think it has legs with the right sort of planning.
No FA cup replays. Extra time & penalties. Straight to penalties in the earlier stages of the league cup.
