https://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/blog...ritising-of-lucre-over-loyalty-114955707.html An article discussing how some clubs (not just in the PL) charge large sums of money for kids to be mascots (as high as £600). Not sure what we do, but haven't heard of charges. Surely the cost should never be higher than the kit (if the parent wants to keep it). These are the supporters of the future.
What happened to a 'Junior Saint/Gunner/Blue/Spur... etc' paying £5-£20 for a year's membership, including events and club items/prizes - including the chance to be picked at random to be a mascot? I always thought that was how it worked.
I thought it was free, just get your name on the list. That's discusting if clubs charge for it, mind you some of the games the players have one each. Now I know why!
When my great nephew was mascot a few years ago at St Mary's it was free and he was given the kit to keep as well. He was a member of the young Saints. I have known for some time that Chelsea charge for the pride of being match day mascot but then they need the money.
The only times the club charges to be a mascot, it donates the whole sum to the Saints Foundation charity as the result of an auction. I think anyway...
