Should we achieve promotion on Saturday, there will inevitably be a pitch invasion at full time. So what are everyone's views on these? Being in the Frank Adams upper it's not a consideration for me, but I can see how people would want to do it as it will be a fantastic moment when the whistle goes if we're up. To be able to celebrate with the players and fellow fans on the Adams Park turf would be great. But I do also remember being annoyed when it happened against Notts County as people just stayed on the pitch for ages running around and being generally idiotic. The players wanted to come back out, celebrate and do a lap of honour but this was held up for a long time despite tannoy announcements asking people to leave the pitch for the players to return. What's the point in hanging around on the pitch when there's no players left out there? The final point is the threat of being banned. I think I'm right in saying some fans were banned for 5 years after the Notts County pitch invasion. Is it worth the risk?
I can remember the pitch invasion being good tempered and fun, no-one was hurt and it did less damage to the pitch than it being studded for 90 minutes anyway. What's wrong with the pitch invasion and why can't players come out and celebrate with the fans on the pitch? It should be a shared moment between fans and players.
Like I said, nothing wrong with a pitch invasion and celebrating with the players at the whistle. I don't see it hurting anyone either. It's people staying on there for ages and aimlessly running around when the players want to come back out that I don't get.
Afer we got are third goal on saturday some fans did run onto pitch, dont think this is right as the game is still going and some did take maybe a few mintues to get of. And a bury fan ran on onces all wwfc fans had been removed, again a wwfc ran on and looked to be trying to start on the bury fan which lead to more bury fans going onto pitch. This should not happen and in my mind some of them should maybe be banned as game was still going on. On saturday when we ge the win fans should have the chance to go onto the pitch, but then should also return to the stands for the lap of hounor.
saturdays game could have ended in a riot and probably would have if it was not for the fact that bury fans were staying behind to celebrate their promotion.
There are very few clubs that would even entertain this thread. You have all been indoctrinated in to thinking it is wrong by our illustrious chairman. A good natured pitch invasion is a display of passion seldom seen at our club these days. Of course, it isn't controlled by the club so they don't want it. Do any of you remember the glory days under Martin? If so, you will remember how a pitch invasion can happen safely, passionately....and allow the players / management team to celebrate. When did you all become so boring??? P.S. Don't come out with the usual lines about safety. Noone has ever been injured in a pitch invasion at Adams Park and there are not enough people in the ground to create a ny real problems.
That's a bit of an over-reaction. No one is saying there shouldn't be a pitch invasion on Saturday or raised any safety concerns. I don't know how often you read this site, but you won't find many Hayes fans here either. I think most people (including me) would love a good natured pitch invasion to celebrate with the players like back in the O'Neill glory days. Not everyone can be trusted to keep it that way though, as demonstrated at Bury. But we're all boring so what do we know.
i would love to go on and celebrate with the players and fans if we go up but i dont want to be banned for 5 years so i wont be on the pitch, but good luck to those that do ,i just hope that fat stan doesnt ban you.
As i said earlier, there is nothing wrong with a pitch invasion. I don't understand why the players had to wait for everyone to get off the pitch to come back on again, there's no potential health risk for the players. Its not as fans are going to attack the players, we're there to support them and congratulate them if they win. Furthermore, the players would probably like to celebrate with fans, its more emotional and makes the feeling more special. Lastly it is ridiculous that bans were given, and FIVE YEARS? Its a complete joke, and once again its mindless convention spoiling the fun of supporters.
