on the beeb Sunderland v Reading (15:00 BST) It may be a fine afternoon in Swansea - but all is not well up in Sunderland. The rain is so fierce that there is talk that we may need a pitch inspection! I'll get that clarified as soon as we can but if you're a Reading fan on the A1, prepare to abort your trip.
Was on radio 5 that referee's been out a few times - sounded like was still uncertainty as to whether it would go ahead or not
That would be a gutter for the Reading fans, cos that is a BASTARD of a drive. Does mean AJ can make his debut with Fletcher, but I want 4 points on the board by 5pm!
Just been on SSN group of suits on the pitch with umbrellas and looking down shaking their heads. Not sure where exactly they were standing but it did look very waterlogged.
Just came on the radio now, pitch inspection as we speak. They've been out there three times already & still the rain falls.
Just rewound it on Tivo one of them is MON under the brolly, looked to be doing most of the talking too.
Cant load the pic. But heres a link https://twitter.com/JonnyFordham/status/239339506535378945/photo/1/large
MON and McD on their own walking about the goalmouth. Animated conversation. Pitch looks ok on the tv pictures but definitely looks very soft going. Got the feeling if it comes down to McD having a choice, he wouldn't mind it being called off. (They already had two hard games who could blame him. Pain in the arse for the travelling support mind.) The rain just doesn't look like easing up. It's off.
2012 and the groundsmen cannot do their job, a bit rain and it's off, my god 20 years ago aginst Ipswich it bucketed down all night and finished the game, why did they not cover the pitch ? , what next ' it's a bit windy so the game will be postponed'.
It's been raining all day mate. And it is still bucketing down. Ref just been on SSN saying they had no option as the rain wasn't expected to stop before late evening.
****ing hell, imagine if I'd paid £720 yesterday to fly back! If AJ had been announced 2 hours earlier, I'd be crying right now!
Phoned the boy as soon as it was official he was going to only do a half shift. He is usually a grumpy sod when I get him up at 6 in the morning, for some strange reason he was all smiles this morning. Bet he is still smiling when he gets back at 7 tonight. Oh! He also said the same as you, it means AJ can start our next match.
