I was hoping to at least see a pile of rubble where the East End used to stand.....oh yeah, it is a pile of rubble anyway............
That would be turf? I don't know if it will be seeded or turf. I assume that it will be turf because to grow a pitch from seed in only eight weeks, would it be tough enough to withstand eight months of use in winter? Nothing to do with two codes this coming season. I also assume the "Desso" treatment will not be done until the new grass is established. Correct or not? Anyone know? But it certainly will not be on pallets which can be wheeled in and out like the Millennium pitch.
I thought the turf was removed a few weeks back and being treated/implanted with the artificial stuff up near the training ground?
Desso treatment is the implantation of 20 cm lengths of polypropylene string, for want of a better word, that is inserted vertically into the ground. There are There are 20 million fibres inserted into the pitch and the grass roots intertwine with the string which stops the roots being kicked out. The grass above ground may be damaged but with roots remaining, it soon shoots again. This process can only be done when the turf/grass has grown in situ. http://www.dessosports.com/hybrid-grass/installation
Not just you. I am also concerned. I would have expected it to have almost been completed by now - seven weeks after the season finished.
