Pirelli to make soft tyres the prime option for the Indian Grand Prix Pirelli are playing is cautiously for the Indian GP by using the soft and hard compound, this after Pirelli said the hards would not be seen again this year. As the softs will be the primes they'll have 6 softs and 5 hards for the weekend (usually the other way round) Abu Dhabi and Brazil will see the mediums and primes and the softs as options (more traditional) Japan - medium (prime), soft (option) Korea - soft (prime), super-soft (option) India - Soft (prime), Hard (option) Abu Dhabi - Medium (prime), Soft (option) Brazil - Medium (prime), Soft (option)
I'm confused. The Prime is supposed to be the harder of the two tyres isn't it? Why have they swapped it around and why for this race?
I think they want to make it that way always in the future to stop the current harder tyres being wasted (unused) since most teams generally use up all their softer allocation first.
umm what? I thought the teams got 3 sets of primes and options for the race/qually?? If so Just switching the meaning of primes and options around isn't going to fool a formula 1 team
