After the epic cake thread of last night, this is a shamelessly plagiarised derivative on the same theme. So, which do you prefer and which is your favourite type? Being a Manc of pure origin I've always been a fan of pies myself, Hollands being the best makers of such delights by a mile. Not much beats a Hollands meat and potato pie. They also do great pudding. Of the suet pocket variety, not like in dessert. I worked in Devon for a few years though and because very, very fond of pasties, so I'm torn between the two. Big shout out the to the appropriate festive treat of choice, the mince pie.
The Marks & Spencers Cornish Pasties are excellent, especially if you can find them in their fresh Delicattessen bit.
I'm probably gonna stick with the good old steak and kidney pie. So many to choose from, and all good. I'll probably change my mind in a few minutes.
Hollands do the finest meat pie as well, not just the beautiful meat an 'tatter. A Cornish style (they are very, very precious as to what is an actual Cornish pasty) steak pasty is pretty hard to beat though and is easier to handle, literally. You can eat that driving. You can't a pie.
please log in to view this image I suppose it's a bit like an apple chutney. Chicken or beef and onion would be my choice with a cheese slice and appropriate condiment.
Childhood memories of authentic Cornish pasties on a cold day in St Ives or Bude stand out ... do like pies too ...
