In todays " Sentinel " is a picture of the Stoke eleven who played Real Madrid in April '63. The poster asks " can you name them ? "

I know not how to put the picture on this site , but if anyone can please do.

My attempt to name them , which might be slightly flawed is , Left to Right , Back Row first :

Tony Allen - Eric Skeels - Eddie Stuart - Jimmy O'Neill - Bill Asprey - Eddie Clamp ??

Sir Stan. - Dennis Violet - Jackie Mudie - Jimmy McIlroy - Don. Ratcliffe

If you are able to see the picture , please put me right.:emoticon-0145-shake

Sorry mate I have seen the photo too but like you.... I don't have a bloody clue as to how to put that photo on here.
My attempt was feeble compared to yours Kos...

Tony Allen, Eric Skeels, Sir Stan, Denis Violet was as good as it got for me. Of course I have heard/read loads about the other player's but I am not old enough to have seen them play. IF I did I can't remember Kos. Those I recognised pleased to say, I did watch them. Nicky will know all of them he's older than me.

Sometimes the attachment appears and sometimes it doesn't, must be the ipad.

By the way, Kos, your line up is spot on.

Remember them all Those were the days What an amazing forward line and what an honour for Real Madrid to play against them

I would put Jimmy Oneil in the same class as Bego until the lemonade and gambling took over Tony Allen was a really classy LB and should have had more than 3 England caps Bill Asprey at RB was strong and fast for his size Remember him scoring an absolute screamer into the Stoke end goal from just over half way Eric Skeels was a typical box to box WH full of running Eddie Stuart a solid CH

What can I say about Clampy brilliant WH when he wasnt clowning around On match days he had a long liquid lunch in the Vic until Waddo sent for him

Ateam of absolute quality and so many internationals Dont know who you would leave out to fit them in but just imagine Huddy and Jimmy G included

Just shows what a brilliant manager Waddo was to assemble such a team

    SiS

PS Picture is almost as good ( LOL ) as the one of me holding the Sentinel Shield as captain of Hanford Boys Club when we beat Blurton 2-1 at Vale Park ( apologies for swearing ) in 63 or 64 after which I joined our beloved Stoke as an amatuer on half a crown a week expenses

Thanks KKB for posting this Will now raise a glass of fizz ( 1euro60c a bottle ) to all Stokies and happy memories

    I heard that Potts !!!

In 1963 I was in the Royal Navy on HMS Kent in the Far East.& South Pacific.
No internet in those days. I read about it ages later.

Tony Allen was the best left back in England amd that is NOT biased, Skeels was Mr Stoke City.
Aleays there, never a stand-out type, but always missed on those rare games when he was injured.

I could go on and on, but won't...don't all cheer :)

    PS...couldn't view the attachment.

I was at the match with a young lady , now my missus as well. And I had to stand with my arms around her to save her from the crush.
