Off Topic Photography is an interesting hobby

Having been accused, on another thread, of being a train-spotter, merely because I am into photography, I thought I would start this thread to put the record straight and prove, once and for all, that I am not dull.

Let me begin by making it absolutely clear that I am not a train-spotter, nor have I ever been a train-spotter.

My photographic canvas is Nature, in all her unadulterated glory.

I have just stepped up to a full-frame digital format, having used a high-quality 4/3 frame system for the last 10 years or so. I have a vast collection of old Legacy glass, from my days of film photography, including some expensive Zuiko and Zeiss glass. My favourite lens is probably the Zuiko 55mm/f=1.2, which is incredibly fast, and very soft around the edges, making for some fantastic dreamy landscapes. I use my Zuiko 35mm for street photography, it being generally accepted among those of us in the know that 35mm is the ideal focal-length for covert street scenes. That said, if you pushed me hard enough, I'd have to admit that I wouldn't want to be without my Zuiko 21mm, which is a superb wide-angle lens, and great for landscape work, as well as the more covert street work, where space is at an absolute premium.

My sharpest bit of glass is probably my Carl Zeiss 50mm/f=1.8, which on my new full-frame digital is producing some awesome work! The contrast that this little gem produces has to be seen to be believed!

For editing software, I use Photoshop and Lightroom.

So, there you have it, lads. I hope I have finally laid to rest any idea that my love of photography is dull or boring. If you have any questions, I will do my best to answer them.

HIAG was trying to convince people that he isn't a nerd by writing several paragraphs about lenses, focal lengths and f-stops and repeating that he really, really isn't dull.

I don't have a wide enough lens to take a selfie of "little HIAG."

And why should either Saints or I feel happy that both Arsenal and Leicester lost? I cannot speak for Saints, but I don't have any personal grievance against either fans. Just because I make predictions - rather accurate ones, at that - does not mean that I have anything personally vested in it.

Not aimed at you HIAG, but I can't stand these pretentious selfie types who think photgraphing the beach, autumn leaves or their lunch is somehow an art form.

I didn't apologise lolz, I don't know if he is a proper photographer so didn't want to aim it at him or anyone tbh. But even some people I know, usually women tbh, go off and take pictures which they vomit on places like Instagram with hashtags claiming to "love photography" and **** like "no filter" whatever the fck that means on a mobile phone!

 

Very true.

Many the time, I am down on the beach, with my massive Cannon in my hands, shooting off like nobody's business, and I'll get some chick wander up to me - usually when I'm about to flash - and say something stupid like, "Why don't you use a Samsung?"

I haven't been arrested, yet, mate. I think it's the mack that helps keep me anonymous.

I hate people with selfie sticks! I get the urge to take it of them and beat them with it for using it!
