Just for a bit of fun. If you could bring back one player from Newcastles history and add him into the current squad (their ability as it was in their pomp here), who would it be? They can be still playing or retired.

The natural reaction would be Sir Alan Shearer. However is he really what we're desperate for right now?

Who could make a really big difference to the current squad? We are being linked with every centre back and left back out there right now so maybe you'd go for an Albert, Enrique or a Peacock? Perhaps you see Cheik on his way and would love to drop Batty or Rob Lee in there? Or perhaps you're a bit sick and want to see a Des Hamilton, Andreas Andersson, or Maric another go (get help if you pick one of these guys!). Or perhaps you'd like to see Fumaca for no other reason than the comedy of a brazilian who can't play football.

    I'll go first. Jose Enrique.

Ah Matty Pattison. One of the many off the famous St James production line. Soon to be starring in Peter Jacksons "The Hobbit". No CGI required.

Bellamy. Great player, shame about his arguments with Al. Could be deadly down the left, HBA on the right and Cisse in the middle. In his prime of course, not the Bellamy of today.

    Rob Lee or Pedro...

You can buy defenders of Enrique's quality for under £10m but young, english and amazing - Lee or Pedro would be impossible to buy on our budget and just imagine this:

    Ba, Cisse, HBA
    Cabaye, Tiote, Lee

    Or

    Pedro, Cisse, HBA
    Cabaye, Tiote, Gutierrez

    Unreal!

Bellers is a controversial choice. Purely on playing ability alone though, he could make a difference to our side. His off the field antics at the time (acting like a bellend, loving the nightlife too much with Dyer etc) and arguments with Shearer, Carver etc leave him looking a risky option. Dislike the lad immensely for a variety or reasons but you have to recognise that he was great for us and very effective at his peak (Feyenoord alone!) I think if you could put his dedication and professionalism that he has now into him when he was with us, you'd have some player.

Speedgate was 7 months ago. Surely you must have some more topical wummery?

I'll give you an E- for lack of effort/thought, not being very funny and about 7 months too late.

Has Beardsley been removed from the Official Club Memory by Chairman Ashley in the recent Cultural Revolution?

To be fair...that is all I remember of him. I flicked over to LFC.TV briefly yesterday and saw part of a game between us in the 98/99 season under Guillet (sp), completely forgot Stuart Pearce played for you! <laugh>

We're in dire need of a centre-back. I'm tied between Killer and Phillipe Albert

No can do, it has to be as they were then. So for Woodgate you have to accept his dodgy muscles!! Easily the one of the best centre backs we've had when fit though.

Surely Malky McD. Saw him play at Norwich and our centre half climbed on his back to stop him scoring. Did it work? Did it f***
