Matt Phillips turned down a move to Wigan with Shaun Maloney coming to us. Maloney looks set to go to Leicester now, so another one looks like he's gonna milk us for all he can get... http://www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/qpr-miss-out-on-maloney-phillips-swap-deal
He is allowed to be unhappy with an offer made, you know. It doesn't mean he's of low character or is "milking us."
Never gets a run in the side, so how can anyone judge how good/poor he is. Pointless giving him one game to then drop him the following week, his confidence will be shot to pieces
He's been so poor when he has played and there's no doubt Harry wants him out, so he'll just stay for what? Another player who was hyped when signed but has failed miserably...
How do you get some form when Redknapp chops and changes every 5 minutes, its his job to get them playing and he's failed miserably
QPR fail in Callum McManaman swap deal after Matt Phillips blocks move to Wigan QPR want to sign a winger during the January transfer window Hoops are keen on Wigan duo Callum McManaman and Shaun Maloney Matt Phillips snubs swap deal and wants to fight for first-team spot at QPR By SIMON JONES FOR THE DAILY MAIL PUBLISHED: 23:22, 15 January 2015 | UPDATED: 23:22 QPR have failed in a bid to swap Matt Phillips for Callum McManaman of Wigan. Phillips has played a bit-part role at the struggling R's so far this season, but was reluctant to drop down a division and wants to stay and fight for his place at Loftus Road instead. The clubs also discussed the possibility of a deal for Shaun Maloney for whom Wigan have already agreed a £1million fee with Leicester. QPR are discussing Standard Liege winger Paul-Jose M'Poku, 22, formerly of Tottenham. The 22-year-old wants a move back to England and his agent has sounded out several Premier League clubs. Harry Redknapp is keen on signing a wide man this month, but may be forced to sell to raise funds for new arrivals. I was only discussing with my mate on Sunday how we missed a trick by not signing two or three Wigan players before the seasons start. McManaman and Maloney were two of them along with Jean Beausejour. Especially as we were setting up for the 3-5-2 formation that Wigan have adopted for a few seasons.
Maloney for a million would have been worth breaking our transffer embargo for. We pay more than that in loan fees normally anyway.
McManaman for Phillips and Maloney for Mutch? That has to be a no-brainer. I'm not a fan of Maloney after what happened at LR in that 1-1 draw but he offers a lot more than Mutch from what I've seen so far.
That free kick was a bit of a gut punch but he always looks lively. I think both Mutch and Phillips could do with loans. They'll improve with game time and a couple of youth players in the match day squad wouldn't do much worse until both have some form and confidence back IMO.
Am sorry but anyone who has seen Phillips of late can surely not tell me he deserves a starting place. He has ,along with Hoilett, proved himself to be a good championship player each time he is given a chance. Each team in the prem has a better wingers than those 2 either on their bench or not even in the squad. Januzaj anyone?
Let's face it if you were Phillips would you want to go to Wigan? We are second bottom of the Prem and possibly going down, they are in the same position but a league lower. Wouldn't fancy the 3rd tier if I were him
This Division is too unforgiving to give non-performers runs in the side. Phillips has been awful every time he has played this season. He missed an easy chance at Man U and every time he has been in the pitch since he has been hiding. I saw him at St Mary's when the fans were getting on greens back for kicking instead of throwing the ball wide. Why didn't green throw it wide? I will tell you why because Phillips was 'shying away ' on the wing. Harry had enough when he got beaten in the air by a player and good foot shorter than him. He did look good in the warm down at Burnley last week though, grinning while jogging across the pitch with the other unused subs. He has no fight in him and needs a kick up the backside. No wonder he didn't want to go. Another player who likes the money but doesn't want to play.
Such a shame really, when he was in the PL with Blackpool he had a dynamism in his play that really frightened defenders and he along with Ince and Fletcher-Taylor were scoring for fun. We haven't seen even a glimpse of that sort of form from him. Like several others he seems totally shot but if he's on silly-money he won't go anywhere else in a hurry...
