Sheffield Wednesday eye move for Premier League midfielder BY SAM ROURKE ⋅ FEBRUARY 1, 2015 ⋅ POST A COMMENT FILED UNDER PHILLIPS, QPR, SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY Sheffield Wednesday are eyeing a move for Queens Park Rangers winger Matty Phillips, according to the Star. please log in to view this image Matt Phillips is a target for Sheffield Wednesday FLW reported earlier in the month that Wigan Athletic were targeting a move for the former Blackpool winger, but their interest has seemingly faded. The Owls have recently been taken over in a £30 million deal by Thai businessman Dejphon Chansiri, thus meaning there is transfer funds available at the club. Phillips, 23, has struggled for game time this season at Harry Redknapp’s QPR, and it would be no surprise to see the winger leave the club before the January transfer deadline on Monday. Sheffield Wednesday boss spoke about the possibility of signing Phillips to the Star, saying: “I am always interested in good players. I think Matt has been linked with Derby but I don’t think that’s happened. “We need to bring players into this football club who are going to be better than the ones we have got. Phillips is one that we are interested in.” Meanwhile, the Owls look set to sign CSKA Sofia striker Sergiu Bus, as reported on FLW earlier this week. Bus, 22, joined Bulgarian side CSKA Sofia in 2014 from CFR Cluj, and he has since gone on to make 19 appearances, scoring ten goals for the club. The young forward has spent the majority of his career spent out on loan and is seemingly yet to settle down at one particular club. Bus has made five appearances for the Romanian under-21 side, scoring one goal however he has not made an appearance for the Romania senior side as of yet. The Owls were defeated 2-0 by Steve Clarke’s Reading on Saturday at the Madejski Stadium, courtesy of goals from Pavel Pogrebnyak and Chelsea loanee Nathaniel Chalobah.

Mail/HITC """ Queens Park Rangers have made an enquiry to Blackburn Rovers over Joshua King, according to the Daily Mail. King's contract at Blackburn expires at the end of the season and, as a result, QPR believe he could be available in a cut-price deal, which has sparked their interest. Although R's chairman Tony Fernandes has stated that he won't be opening up his cheque-book today, this could be a deal which represents too much value to turn down. Manchester United[/a] as a youngster, has made 16 appearances for Blackburn this season and he has clearly impressed. Impact for QPR? The signing of King would likely be an investment in their future, rather than a player the R's immediately feel could go straight into the first-team. King has had to play second fiddle to Jordan Rhodes and Rudy Gestede at Blackburn this campaign and it would be highly unlikely that he walks straight into a Premier League first-team. Rapid and skilful, King has the potential to be a major threat to defences, but Harry Redknapp will need to develop him carefully if he is to get the best out of him. Would King be a good addition for QPR? """"
