    Phil McNulty
Quotes attibuted to Inter technical director Marco Branca in Italy this afternoon saying Wesley Sneijder is "absolutely not for sale".

The fact that he does not want to leave and that Inter don't want to sell, indicates that he won't be joining. I think this has put the Wesley rumors to bed. We can safely tick Nasri and Wesley and Modric off our list.

What is your take on this?

It could be like SAF saying 'I wouldn't sell them a virus' but it is looking more and more unlikely.

More inane speculation - we'll know for sure by the end of August.

Don't believe anything Phil McNumpty says. He merely adds his spin on other people's gossip.

I think we should do like I did on Football Manager and sign Hamsik <diva>

I have mixed feelings about whether or not we should sign a big name player. On one hand a big player would add so much to the team and bring a commercial windfall in shirt sales. On the other hand I would like to see Anderson given a proper change at succeeding Scholes and I would hate to see anything happen to possibly hamper the development of Pogba, Morrison, Tunnicliffe and Cleverley. It's a real conundrum for SAF and I am glad I am not in his position.

This is now very worrying, we need someone to sit in our midfield and pull our stings, no one can replace Paul but Sneijder would be and excellent player to our team.

Agree with that, But someone like Sneijder who is 28 or there abouts wouldn't really hinder the young kids. But if we signed someone like Pastore is 22 then that would make it way harder for the Pogba's of this world to break into the team.

I thought Sneijder was 26. Oh well live and learn. I do have a feeling that if a good enough offer is made Inter would accept because aren't they a bit cash strapped? I could be wrong again though

So now who is our target. I do believe we will sign someone just a youngster maybe. I just can't see Ferguson spending big bucks on someone like Wesley with little resale value unless they really, really wanted to leave. However, Wesley has made it clear he is settled at Inter and does not want to leave and Inter have stated no chance. It is not like the Ronaldo move, where he wanted to leave and Utd wanted to keep him. Sneidjer will stay where he is. We won't sign Nasri or Modric and I doubt we will sign De Rossi. So who is our target?

What inter mean is " We do not want to sell him, unless there is a substancial offer on the table, ie 45-50 mill, which if nasri with a year left on his contract is worth 20 mill, then wesley is easily worth triple that. He is a proven top class player unlike nasri modric etc

As long as it isn't jack rodwell at everton, I think his a good player but unsure if his united class and for sure not able to lace Paul's boots!

Agree on that. Rodwell has the potential to be a decent player but personally I think we've signed a better young player in Phil Jones. He has impressed me immensely with his displays for Blackburn. I really think he'll prove to be a great signing and I'm very excited by that addition.
