Glad I'm off to bed when Ripley takes out the queen alien then.

3 hours of Collins would be my idea of torture. :p

I'd rather pull my toe nails out and block my ears with them personally.

Not sure not liking Phil Collins makes you a ***got mate, that's like saying people who don't like Elton John are soft.

Of all the hundreds & hundreds of live acts I've seen they would easily be in the top 10.

I didn't even know who they were when I arrived at work and it was one of the best nights I've ever had.

Fortunately my wife was nearby and I sent a taxi round for her after I'd seen the first number.

Phil Collins, i'd rather eat the ear wax from a mangy dog, than listen to that.

I'd rank Phil Collins alongside Chris De Burgh........and the best way to describe them would be naff! In fact I have to think a little harder for me not to get mixed up between the two! I dont know how two total and utter pipsqueeks of such week calibre could make a living, and a killing, from such woeful entertainment!

    Phil Collins is definately marmite.

Im only 29 so wasnt around at the time but I imagine he was like a pariah in a generation of the claptons, the who, led zeppelin, pink floyd etc?

I do like a few of his big hits though

Phil Collins is a fantastic drummer.

If you listen to the Genesis albums from Nursery Crime until Peter Gabriel left (after The Lamb lies down on Broadway) the drumming is phenominal. He brought an energy to the Genesis songs which made these songs work in a way that the two previous drummers could never have. Mayhew and Silver were competent but although Trespass was filled with impressive tracks they never reached the heights that the following LP's attained.
I tried drumming along to Supper's ready and although I can play along with every other types of music I found trying to make my drumming work just didn't happen.

On the two more LP's that the brilliant Steve Hackett stayed with Genesis (Trick of the tail and Wind and wuthering) Genesis mellowed quite a lot and after that became a more pop orientated band.

On his solo albums my opinion is that the first couple were very good but after that started to sound a bit samey.

My other favourite drummers are Keith Moon, Aynsley Dunbar ( John Mayall's drummer on the Hard Road album) and Ringo. Many might raise an eyebrow at Ringo but he was the right drummer at the right time for the Beatles. By the way, I rate paul McCartney as an excellent bassist. Listen to the bass guitar on Hey Bulldog for an example of top class bass playing.

I don't mind Collins - preferred his drumming with Genesis to his later singing career -would say he's an OK drummer when to compared with ilk of his era

here: Chester Thompson kicking his arse
