Scored again for the Reserves who are now drawing 1-1 with West Brom
    Hitting great form for them.
Been a fairly good year for the reserves or should I say 'development squad'
and Beardsley seems to be working his magic getting the best out of the players
one more game left for them after this away to Blackburn

My question is, who would you promote to the senior squad next year if any?

  2. WHY DOESN'T HE GET A CHANCE IN THE FIRST TEAM THEN??

Even if it's only for 10 mins!!! Just to make an appearance and give him a taste of PL football!!

    I would promote Beardsley personally.

I reckon he could still do a job for us! Ha.

Seriously though I like the look of Airey and from every thing I hear he is very professional, which is a nice change for our youth - it could be the Beardsley effect.

I think there are a few who show vast potential but given their ages I'm not adverse to keeping them in the reserve/development squad system for another season.

I reckon once we've guaranteed our survival, providing it doesnt go down to the wire we should play some of the youngsters in the first team squad, last 2-3 games of the season or something?

I can see the reasoning behind it but I also want to see how well we can finish the season in terms of league position so the strongest team needs to play.

    Damn these moral conundrums!!

Brilliant idea even though every position is more money which Ashely would demand Pardew play first11 available
my argument would be that they know they earned safety and would not try as hard as a youngster playing for their future with the club

It augurs well for the future that we have so many promising youngsters ready to come into the first team squad.

Beardo's doing a really good job with them it would seem.

Loan him out next season and get some proper experience, sitting 5th or 6th choice behind the current lot and at least one more striker next season will stunt his development in a key early year.

He's not going to do or gain anything from 20 minutes playing time in the senior team this year either to be honest, and it will give his ego an unneeded boost, thinking he's already made it.

A lot of my friends know him quite well and apparently he's a bit of a dick, so I'd be keen to see how he does at some unglamorous L1/CCC team fighting for a starting place.

Judging by the huffing, puffing limping and wincing, (plus the suspensions) at the end of the game Saturday, there should be places up for grabs.
