Duh! Premier League: Boss Mike Phelan says Hull City must adapt to new formation to avoid relegation Hull City will need to quickly adapt to their new 3-5-2 formation if they are to drag themselves out of the Premier League relegation battle, manager Mike Phelan said, ahead of Friday's clash against seventh-placed Everton. please log in to view this image Hull City manager Mike Phelan. Reuters Hull, who are glued to the bottom of the table with 12 points from 18 games, four points adrift of the safety zone, have not won since deploying their new system in the draw with Crystal Palace on December 10. "It's not an impossible mission, we'll keep going," Phelan told reporters on Thursday. "We are up for the challenge ahead and players have bought into the new formation. We need to use it to its best," Phelan said. The same formation has proved spectacularly successful for leaders Chelsea, who have gone on a 12-game winning streak since switching to it. Striker Abel Hernandez will definitely miss Friday's game. Phelan said the 26-year-old, who injured his groin at the start of November, is now jogging but still "10 days to two weeks" from full fitness. http://www.firstpost.com/sports/pre...ew-formation-to-avoid-relegation-3179676.html
I thought it was widely accepted that Chelsea played a 3-4-3? I don't buy all this formations ****e anyway. Yes 2 or 3 central defenders makes a big difference but the amount of times I see Sky bleating on about 3 men up front when it's clearly 1 with 2 supporting deep or out wide. It's almost as if they're trying to convince us the Premier League is full of attacking, free flowing football...
Worra load of ****e that article is. Our players probably have more experience playing that system than anyone else in the league
3-5-2: 3-4-3: 3-4-2-1. I think all three will be relevant at some stage. Perhaps it's the Head Coach who has a problem coming to terms with formations; although I do believe formation can get in the way of the football. How about starting with defensive or attacking football/mentality/mindset/doctrine? We have a team that needs inspiring.
If that quote is correct that shows the incompetence of this manager .. it is blindingly obvious that this formation suits what we have yet it only dawns on him over the last month .. he probably read the threads on here and got the idea.. shockingly inept
