When Mick was brought in his remit was quite clear, survival at any cost. Somehow he has managed to turn a team of misfits, no hopers and clueless players into a tight cohesive unit, and amazingly end the season in mid table with,( considering how many goals we were shipping in) the extraordinary stat. that No other team in the championship has conceded fewer goals than Ipswich in 2013 In my opinion that one fact should make him contender of manager of the season in the championship. Now we look toward the next season and phase 2, to consolidate and push on for a realistic fight for a play off place. i`m not going to venture an opinion on what players he need to get rid of or what players to bring in as we could go on about that for months. Every football fan in the country look at the next season with hope, but for the first time in many many years i look forward to next season with a long forgotten feeling and that is TRUST. I fully trust MM with any transfer dealings, and with Clegg gone the shackles will be off, and equally important, players looking for moves from other clubs will see Ipswich as an ambitious club going upwards rather than a club in decline. I cant wait. Bring on phase 2.
Exactly â not since Royle have I felt I could trust whatever decisions the manager was likely to make. A almost alien feeling after all this time. I just hope MM & TC arenât tempted away. Iâll always find something to worry about!
I'm going to sound a note of caution. We should be aiming for a top ten finish. We have survived this season and then some, but essentially we've come through a war and now we need to issue the ration books. Next season should be about developing the squad and not about targeting the play offs or any other league position. We may end up running away with the league but we may also find ourselves frustrated by results now that the all hands on deck for survival thing is done.
Spot on Yorkie. Mick and terry have worked wonders. It's been an extraordinary season both for us as a club but also in the league and needing 60 points to be 100 per cent safe and the penultimate game. There will without a doubt players leaving, hopefully only ones mm sees as deadwood and hopefully some new arrivals. As I said on another thread I want to see a team prepared to die for the cause and keeping the majority of this crop who have given their all will go some way to us pushing into the top 10 and who knows threatening the play offs and finally having a chance to get out of the championship. The right way and not thru the trap door as at numerous times this season looked likely. In mick and terry we trust.
Manager of the season yorkiegit u must be having a laugh on ur basis d ferguson should get it as look how he has turned posh around!
