Can City get any players in? Whose got the best chance? If I remember rightly they asked the players two months ago when we were riding higher. I think Chester has a big shout.
Kelvin Davis (Southampton), Nathaniel Clyne (Crystal Palace), James Tomkins (West Ham), Curtis Davies (Birmingham), Ian Harte (Reading), Adam Lallana (Southampton), Peter Whittingham (Cardiff), Mark Noble (West Ham), Matt Phillips (Blackpool), Rickie Lambert (Southampton), Jay Rodriguez (Burnley). Here it is.
Chester should be in there without a doubt. He's the best CB in the league IMO and I was pleased to see that FourFourTwo agreed in their recent '50 players in the FL' feature. I'd go with something like Schmeichel Clyne, Chester, Tomkins, Crainey Burke, Whittingham, Boyd , Lallana Lambert, Vaz Te Subs (just an excuse to get Hobbs in): Davis, Hobbs, Karacan, Snodgrass, Rodriguez I can't think of many keepers to be honest and the fact I've got Noble in there, when all I've seen him do this season is score penalties, says a lot about the lack of good CMs in this division!
I agree that chester should be in there but your right its better for us that he is not otherwise it might attract other clubs.
They just picked the biggest names at CB. Surely as us, Reading and Boro have the best defences it should players from those clubs in the team.
What a surprise then ? NONE. I would take issue with the defence for a start. Agree with the midfield apart from Noble and the strikers pick themselves. GK is also up for argumernt.
When I saw this thread yesterday was going to post that we wouldn't get any players in, Hobbs, Chester, Rosy, Koren and Mckenna have all been as good as anything in the league as would have been Vito with a full season. The PFA awards are out of sync, they have Silva in the Premiership one even though he went MIA for a couple of months on the pitch.
Erm....... I would agree. For the record my team would be thus..:- Federeci (Reading) Rosinoir and Chester(Hull City) Tomkins(West Ham) Harte(Reading)..just over Dawson Matt Phillips(blackpool) Nolan(westHam) Lallana(southampton) Whittingham(cardiff) Lambert(southampton) Rodriquez(burnley)
Not seen the PL team, though guessing it's full of players from Man United, Man City, Arsenal and Chelsea? Newcastle and probably Everton deserve players in the team of the year. Dempsey has had a great season at Fulham too.
In all fairness, that list was complete bullshit this year. How high was Matt Tubbs for ****'s sake!?
Didn't notice him to be honest, but yes the big flaw in that list did seem to be an over-keeness on their part to get players from league one and two as high as possible. I noticed Nugent didn't make the 50 but was listed as Leicester's entry for 'best of the teams that didn't make the 50' yet Izaale McLeod was something like 4th or 5th. Who would you rather have? I think they'd probably admit they got a bit too carried away with the lower league players, probably just to satisfy everyone. That argument doesn't explain why Chester was in it though, he's in there because he's class!
Tubbs was 40th on the list and most of the players from 40-50 were from the lower leagues and nowhere near as good as many of the Championship players that weren't included.
