In an emotional news conference today, Peyton Manning, Super Bowl Champion Quarterback Peyton Manning, was released by the team that drafted him out of the University of Tennessee in 1998. He was injured all of last year and without him the team went from perennial Super Bowl contender to one of the biggest jokes of the league last year. Manning did not play a single game in 2011, and the Colts went 2â14 without him, only the second season since Manning was a rookie that the Colts did not win at least 10 games. He stated that he wants to play again but doesn't know where. Despite the neck injury that sidelined him last season, he should be a hot commodity on the Free Agent circuit.
Well, there goes any possible doubt over Andrew Luck's destination. The difficulty in casually following the sport from England is that we get absolutely nothing in the media outside of the NFL season. Obviously all of these factors will have played some part, but was the biggest reason money, injury concerns, sheer confidence in Luck stepping up, or fear that pitting Luck and Manning head-to-head could backfire in the longer term?
Peyton Manning Released by the Colts order having a perfect demand for fulfil responsibilities and role so we will be confident for well direction.
Two schools of thought: start the #1 pick in the NFL Draft immediately because that's what they do now OR let the rookie be mentored by a older Quarterback for a year or two then turn him loose on the league. Considering the money it will take to sign Mr. Andrew Luck, they couldn't afford to pay Peyton and Andy. If their QB styles were similar, the mentor thing would have been great all around. Peyton gets to retire an Indy Colt for life and Andy gets to learn from one of the best of all time.
If the main factors are what is best for Luck's progression and finances, then the irony is that Peyton has lost ~$70m because of how rubbish the Colts were without him. Had the Colts managed even a 6-10 or 5-11 record, we probably wouldn't be having this conversation.
Tebow traded to my NY Jets for a 4th Round pick. What are WE going to do with him? Trade him during/just prior to the Draft in a package!
