Ellington I won't lose any sleep over, but these comments are so disrespectful from Jewell for a player who has given his all whenever he's been on the pitch for us. Let's not forget that just before Jewell came along Peters was in THAT side that beat Arsenal with an incredible performance. He was dropped and it was Carlos Edwards who was at fault in North London to let Arsenal in and kill off our final hopes. It is the contempt for our players in comments like the one below that indicate so clearly the fact that Paul Jewell doesn't have the character or the qualities, or the control required to manage our football club: Jewell admitted: “Jaime has never got out of first base. He went on loan to Bournemouth and they didn’t want to keep him. I know he is a bit of a fans favourite but he hasn’t had a look-in with me. “Where would I play him? Carlos has done exceptionally well, Lee Martin and JET have done well. There is no room for him. I think it is about time Jaime moved on.” Guess what Jewell, I think it's time you ****ing moved on sunshine.
I guess your not happy Lancs, don't blame ya bud but sadly too many of the limp wrist brigade think he is doing a good job or will at least turn things around!! Some may be happy with a top half season next year but i'm not one of those, its about bloody time we got into that top 6!!
**** Top 6 Spanish! Look at Reading! They didn't think 'ooh 6th place, aren't we doing well.' Did Chelsea go to the Nou Camp thinking 'we've done well to get to the Champions League semi'. After all the pussyfooting around we now need a manager who stops all the bullshit excuses, takes the playing squad we've got, makes signings to the best of his ability until the end of July and then says, right you lot, you're going to smash this league to pieces!
While what you say is true Lancs an peters has always been a bit unfairly treated, there is an argument to say that peters has never been good enough to hold down his own position 3 of our managers managers havnt found a position to use him in and jewell is right in saying he didnt impress at Bournemouth. agree that the comments could have been better phrased but its hard to judge really how he meant them when i haven't heard him speaking them and really hes only giving (arguably) valid reasons for his decision. However well a player has played in the past he still has to impress the current manager and i notice no-one on here, untill now, has mentioned him in there evaluations of the squad for the needed transfers in the summer. In fact before now im sure ive been told that peters' contract had been canceled a long time ago.
Well Mike, no-one's mentioned him largely because we know he's got no chance of being given a fair crack of the whip by Jewell. I think he's capable of a lot as an attacking player but but he's had terrible treatment and always done everything that's asked of him. These comments are just downright rude and unnecessary.
I always liked Peters when ever I saw him play. Could never understand why Haynes ever got in the team ahead of him, has certainly got ability and is very tenacious. But there's definitely got to be something a miss, under all our mangers he's been under he's had a good spell in the first team looked like he's going to be a player then dissapeared and not got a look in. Like I've said before I think Jewell is too trueful for his own good sometimes and certain things he should probably not say to the press even if it is the truth. Mind you it never stopped Keane and Jim saying what they thought and they got praised for it, especially Keane who was seen as refreshingly honest, no he was just rude, I wouldn't say the current comments are not rude but probably unneccessary!!
Not bothered about Ellington, although I do feel he is another player that has let himself down. it seems strange that over the last few years he has had such a downturn in fortunes. I do feel sorry for Peters but if he isnt going to feature its better for us to get him off the wage bill and better for him to find somewhere he can play. it seems strange that all the fans seem to like him but no manager does.
Peters was not good enough so did not get on the team sheet or even the bench (rightly so) you have to put the work in on the training ground and reserve games also if you get given the chance to prove yourself on loan at a lower level you should take that chance by the scruff of the neck and be the best player on the pitch every time you play IMHO, its not enough just to be popular among a few fans.
Jewell is correct with both these players. Ellington's best day's were behind him when he joined us, but of course he was the one who brought him here. Peters has been at Ipswich a long time now, and served under three managers, and has not really had a long consistent run in the team, whatever we think of the managers he served under, they can't all be wrong. For sure he had pace, but his positional play, and general interpretation of the game, were the worst I have ever seen at this level. Opposing wide men used to find huge gaps to play through, because of these weaknesses. What endeared him to many, was the sheer effort he put into his game. However if you go to a lower league team on loan, and still can't get a regular game, then that surely tells it all.
And the Jewell lovers still can't see that he is a useless twat! Why bring in Ellington to start with when he knew damn well that his best days were behind him. What a complete waste of wages and resources. I know Jewell likes to run a retirement home so why doesn't he **** off and open one up elsewhere!
Agent Jewell will get another season as least guys. Maybe you will get to 13th in the Championship this time round ?
I was going to say that but didn't want to start another pointless argument, I've bitten enough times recently. Just because I don't think he should get the sack and should be given more time doesn't mean that I think he's a brilliant manager!!
