A late Adam Clayton goal rescued 10 man Huddersfield to deny Charlton taking all 3 points at home and recording 4 back to back wins, Rob Hulse had put Charlton ahead earlier on in the second half. Peterborough went to Portman road to take on Ipswich and although they took the lead early on through Lee Tomlin they were pegged back on the hour mark courtesy of Dj Campbell. We have recently hit some form and although we haven't been as good at home this season I still believe we have enough about us to beat the team at the foot of the league. Peterboroughs draw at the weekend was their first point in 5 games and I'm hoping that we can heap more misery on them and climb further up the league table. I'm gonna go for a 3-0 win to us with Kermorgant coming of the bench to score.
I think the good Doctor is hoping that Seabourne will be fit again and starting at left back? oops ..... I meant to edit my last comment not reply to it
Iain Williamson will ref the match...... he's the guy who booked 7 and sent off 5 in the Bradford/Crawley match last season.
Must be a chance the game will be off. Left Dartford Golf club last night at 1000 and it was underwater. Not stopped raining all night and peeing down now. Will keep a weather eye out today so to speak. If we do get a game it's hard to call. On paper we should win comfortably. Saw Posh on the telly a couple of weeks ago and they were rank. We have been picking up points but there is still the injury spectre and the feeling that CP doesn't yet know his strongest team. I'd go for an attacking team along the lines of: Hamer, Solly, Morro,Cort, Seaborne, Pingpong, Stevo, Kerkar, Green, Fuller, Kermit Plenty of reasons why that team won't be the one selected of course but we've had those debates many times.whatever team we pick should be good enough to win and win comfortably. Probably means we won't. Here's hoping though that we actually get a game and that we win it.
Cheers, Belv, you were missed on Saturday. The rain is expected to ease this afternoon so I expect Paddy to do the business. It's hard to pick a team without knowing the fitness of various players, but we have enough cover in midfield for Jacko to be "rested" which may actually happen, The Doctor was talking about freshening up the team after Saturday but maybe I'm reading too much into that. If Seaborne is still injured I hope he plays Fox, move Pritchard into the middle, play Green and instruct the team to pass the bloody ball to him.
, said the same thing last night. I think we will chase the game for most of the night, but undecided if it will be chasing an equaliser or getting 2 late goals.
Too many teams to mention from recent memory! Colu stands out, and the Bury game where Stephens scored the screamer. Not to sound cliched, but a good start is vital because the crowd can get desperately flat on weekday games (Cardiff aside).
CP said they took a couple of knocks and wouldn't be risked - which I hope means it was a matter of caution rather than full blown injuries.
does anyone think that he maybe played for the point on saturday and not risked these two, with the game and a win today in mind?
With Haynes you daren't take any risks, and Seaborne is not our player so he wouldn't want to risk sending him back crocked.
I don't think it was a case of playing for a point speciifically on Saturday. I think its just CP's natural approach to be safety first and defensive minded. As for Haynes, I suspect the wet conditions just increase the possibility of him slipping and doing his fragile hammy again. I suspect he wouldn't have been risked even if he hadn't been "injured in training".
4-0 to us proud addicks ! Does anyone know what Billy Sharpe's goal celebration was about against Wolves ? hilarious.
We've had a good record against Peterborough recently, the 1-5 at their place followed by the 3-2 home win. Can see there being less goals in this, 2-0, Solly and Hulse
Totally agree. CP wants to freshen up the team but has precious few sensible options to do so. One would be to play Fox (if he doesn't want to risk Seaborne) and rest Jackson Another would be to play Green and rest Pritchard. (The Energiser Bunny deserves an occasional rest). Hulse and Fuller did not look a good pairing so he might give BWP a run alongside one of them if he doesn't want to risk Haynes. Not much else he can do. Maybe rest old man Cort but I think tinkering with your CB partnership is a dangerous game, good as Taylor and Dervite are. Green will never have a better chance to start. If he doesn't start tonight he never will. Let's keep the ball on the deck tonight. I have just watched the whole of the Huddersfield game on video and it was dire. We have to play to the strengths of our better players, Frimpong and Fuller, while Green, Pritchard, Stephens and Kerkar are all weak in the air as well.
Rumour has it that the half-time entertainment will be Minxy pole dancing round the uprights of the North Stand goal. Amen to your suggestion about keeping it on the floor eddie, but even though it's heresy to say it, Kermit's welcome return will probably see an end to this spell of passing football. Poor conditions tonight and opponents who won't be rolling over any time soon make me settle for a 1-0 to us, although I hope it's more comprehensive, setting us up nicely for Saturday.
