Good that they've rescheduled this but I can see it cutting up badly. Anything with a big Christmas target won't be running here so I think that will rule out most of those with Grade 1 form and we will likely und up with 5 or 6 runners.

This might sound picky, but I think it pretty poor that both Sporting Life and Racing Post websites still list Cristal Bonus as a possible runner <doh>

Strong chance that the race will be called off for a 2nd time which would be a shame. For the next 24 hours there is going to be almost continual rain in the South West. As a result Exeter have already called an inspection for 8 am tomorrow morning.

From the Racing Post - I was right:

"Ghizao, Hey Big Spender, Wishfull Thinking, Dan Breen and The Sawyer are set to contest the rearranged Peterborough Chase which will take place at Exeter on Thursday as long as the track is passed fit to race at an 8am inspection."

Just a question if i may... Why has this race been moved all the way from Huntingdon to Exeter...? I have just looked at the Huntingdon website and read that all Huntingdon Badge holders will get free admission to Exeter for the race...

Huntingdon to Exeter must be over 200 miles at a guess one way... Could they have put it a bit closer to its original course...??? Plus Exeter isnt the best of places to get to, although it is a very nice place to go...

    Only asking...

Considering the rain that's forecast for Devon tomorrow & the ground already riding heavy. There's a very good chance it'll be called off again.

Given that entry I hope it is called off again!

Racing is going to be hit hard by the upcoming deluge....hopefully things improve for the 26th.

Looking at the history of this race I was reminded that it was won by one of my all time favourites, Sabin Du Loir at the age of 12.

I backed him when he won the Sun Alliance in 1983, beating Dawn Run - who he would go on to beat a further 2 more times - with some memorable names trailing behind. West Tip and Ballycurragh Lad to name but two. He was a bit injury prone but even so he he managed over 20 wins in his career, finally retiring at the grand old age of 14.

If it's on - Ghazao for me, but he will never be another Sabin Du Loir :)
