Good news. He can get on with it now, the players love working with him. There will be those who stay away but if everyone else get behind him and the team we may actually begin to turn the corner. January sales are massive though. Do we think this is the end for Schofield? Junior Lewis anyone?? Hess??

Good on him, he was always going to get it anyway! Judging by Twitter though there are going to be many stay away because of this appointment! Its going to take a bit of time for Taylor to coach our new playing style into the players, they cant be expected to change overnight and although many have criticised him for saying we as fans need to be patient, he is ultimately right and yes i know its a 2 way thing but the players and manager need our support at the games!

I'll take my usual stance...I support Gillingham FC, therefore i continue to frequent games as and when while finances allow, not based on managerial appointments.

Peter Taylor will get my support until the end of the season.

Good luck Peter. I guess you've already worked out it's going to be a different kind of ride to 99/2000!

If PT manages to avoid relegation with that group of players, he will deserve the freedom of Medway.

Personally I think it is a good thing that Peter Taylor is now confirmed as manager for the rest of the season. There seemed little other viable candidates who we could either afford or were any good to take over and now he can get on and shape the team and style that he wants to impose. Lets not forget that PT is the only manager in the history of the Gills to get us promoted from division 1 to the championship. Of course that squad was much much better than the present one and cost an awful lot more money than this one has so he will have his work cut out. However the style of football he wants us to play gives us a chance of staying up and as the players get more comfortable with it they should improve quite a lot. A few new decent players are needed, especially a creative attacking midfield player who can score goals though perhaps Dack could be the man for the job. Time to get behind the team and manager and give as much support as possible for the rest of the season. Good luck Peter, cmon u Gills!

completely agree, squad is not good enough and not enough depth to it! I fear it doesnt really matter who the manager is with the squad we have, its going to be tough to avoid relegation

I'm sorry but I just don't see how this is a positive appointment. Its all well and good saying what he did with us 13 years ago, but that was 13 years ago. His more recent record has been poor and he has a habit of jumping ship before being pushed, Wycombe probably being the exception. His ideas aren't fresh and he's lucky to have got the two wins we have. Notts County were a team shot on confidence under Kiwomya and under someone else would have walked all over us. Carlisle we were lucky to get a penalty which Keds scored but otherwise we were very poor. Saturday showed that his team has no enthusiasm or drive to succeed. Least under MA he had them playing for the shirt and you knew they would battle until the end. The football has got worse in that the players aren't even creating chances now. That spell where we just played it to our defenders on saturday was just embarassing. Taylor's lack of communication to his players during the game and public slating of his players is no different to how Hess was. We weren't going anywhere fast under Hess and we wont under Taylor. Sad but thats the truth.

Right person (maybe) wrong time (definitely).

Can’t see him getting the best out of this team of limited ability and keeping us up. Unless we are looking to rebuild but then he should have been given a longer contract. His record at Wycombe, Bradford and Stevenage tells us that he isn’t at his best with teams of limited ability. Unless scally backs him to get the quality, he had when he was at Hull for example (or last term with us) I am very pessimistic about this appointment.

    Scally back a manager?

He wouldn't back the one that won us the league.

Typical Scally BS, put him on a short contract, fall guy nicely in place for when we go down.

Keith Burkinshaw was brought in when we, as longest serving members of Div 3 at the time, were in serious danger of losing that status.
People were excited and optimistic about his appointment. I can remember viewng his first press conference on TVS, when he warned...
"I will do my best, but I can't work miracles" He didn't, and down we went!
