Rumours that we are close to signing Peter Masilela from Maccabi Haifa. 26 yr old left back who has been capped 32 times by SA.

Could mean the end of PVA loan return rumours.

    Thoughts.....

Got to trust Sven because I doubt anyone will know anything about him.

Played a few for South Africa so can't be that bad, on saying that they only play in African Cup so who knows?

what about Mee, was hoping we might try and get him, even if it is only on loan for a season.

I actually preferred Mee as a centre half but to be fair he is very versatile so would be good wherever he plays. It's still just another rumour at this stage though so we'll have to wait and see.

I think I would prefer a permanent signing rather than a loanee.

I'd quite happily take Mee back on loan as I think he is quality. Tend to agree that we should be getting as many permanent as possible but real quality comes at such a price these days that the odd loaned or two wouldn't be too bad in my opinion <ok>

One or two players beyond what we can afford on loan wouldn't be too bad but how often does it happen that you get attached, think of them as one of your own, and they don't sign?

..yep permanent signings would be better but, Mee, Vitor & Naughton would have back in a heart beat, great players, I fear we may well miss those players this season...

Glad PVA isn't returning, i wasn't impressed, never heard of this SA left back, but Sven knows what hes doing.

Even with various signings, we may still need loanees as cover, as we are very thin at the back.

I dont rate Van Aanholt as a defender. I think he would be best off as a winger. As a left back the first priority needs to be able to defend. Attacking is a bonus

    Don't know anything about him.

Not sure why we couldn't get Mee on a permanent, Man City aren't going to need him, I think we could get him cheap.

I think we will sign Ben Mee one way or another. Lets not kid ourselves he isnt going to be good enough for Man City and with the money they have they will more then likely buy someone.

I wouldnt have Mee as left back. He would do as cover but not first choice. I think he is just a better version of Michael Morrison

Masilela would be a good addition to our team and it is good that we are signing players rather than having a whole back line of loanees. Peltier is an exellent aquisition and hopefully Tunchev will still have a future with us and of course we have Sol Bamba who has still to prove to me that he has what it takes at this level.

I would welcome back Mee and Vitor on loan (if there is no chance of signing them) and with us bidding for a keeper and strikers I think Sven has the situation in hand

Tunchev's contract has expired but Sven has invited him to train with the club over the summer to try and earn a contract. Its got nothing to do with ability as we all know he is quality its just to see if his body is up to it.

    Cheers ProudFox

I really do hope his knees stand up to the pre season training. We all know how good he is and if he can get his fitness back it will be like a major new signing :)
