PHW is more Gargoyle than Figurehead. Personally I'll be glad to see him step down. The Hill-Wood family have been great custodians of our club, but I think their time is up now and we need a more innovative chairman to take us forward.

Also, I don't like the way that he booted David Dein off the board over the Kronke affair and then less than a year later he was openly embracing the same man who Dein was advocating joining the board. I also think him and a couple of others acted with their own interests at heart over the lockdown agreement and the share sales, rather than the club's. They were so intent of Usmanov not getting a foot in the door, that they prevented any share sale that could have raised some much needed funds for our squad at the time.

What about a replacement? Names being mentioned so far are:

    David Dein.
    Bob Wilson.

Personally I'd love to see Dein take the helm at Arsenal. I know Cym probably won't agree with me because he thinks Dein is a Spiv, and he is. I remember the Bond scheme and Dein was chief architect of that idea, but he is Arsenal to the core and he's always been an innovative thinker and somebody who gets things done. His connections in the football world are second to none, his negotiation skills are legendary and he is still Wenger's right hand man.

I think he'd be the man to take us back to the level we've all been hoping for.

If Davy boy does trip back down he will put a curb on Wengers spending as he is a bigger wad than the Spud board. <laugh>

Wenger has spent **** all since we moved to the Emirates (9m net) and the board say we have some money to spend. Dein is a spiv, but if there's one thing he's always put first, it's the development of the squad.

Is there nothing you don't find hilarious? Does anyone else share this sense of humour?

OK, back to the main topic, i suspect one of PHW's kids will take over chairmanship, much like he did from his father.

I hope not, as far as I know they have had nothing to do with Football whatsoever. Shoehorning them into our club for the sake of the Hill-Wood tradition would be a sour move in my opinion. We need somebody who really understands the club, the game and the modern environment of football today. David Dein would be a perfect choice.

I see even you didn't find that funny. Remarkable given everything else you say has you in stitches.

BTW a dry sense of humour is a good thing, not an insult, probably need to drop that one.

The other option you mentioned was Bob Wilson. This surprised me, as I can't see what (apart from decency and intelligence) he would be able to bring. Is clearly a very decent man, but how would those qualities take your club forward? I would rather have a bastard as my Chairman (just as well you might say, but I couldn't possibly comment).

There is no way David Dein will be given chairmanship, because of his ties with Usmanov.

I suspect either one of the kids will get it (as i said yesterday), or Ivan will get promoted, or lastly Stan will install one of his US chums.
