Hey lads, just watched this youtube video of wor Pedro.

It's criminally underrated, as it's one of the best player tributes I've ever seen on youtube, but barely has 10,000 views, so I thought I'd share it with you :) . I'm too young to remember watching Beardsley play, and this made me jealous of anyone who had the privilege of seeing him. Basically all of the goals are works of art, it's fantastic!

(Personal favorite goal is 1:55 ;) ) Hunger, desire, technique, skill!

Beardsley must be the best player ever to wear a Newcastle shirt. I can only say this because anybody better than him would have been inhuman.

He's a legend among Geordies, but he seems to be underrated in the rest of the country. Considering the number of times he played for England, the goals he scored and the amount of time playing at the top level, it seems stupid that he barely gets a mention in the media, while people never stop talking about the likes of Bobby Charlton, Gary Lineker and David Beckham. Even Liverpool fans sometimes overlook him when they remember their "glory days."

You're absolutely right, he is criminally underrated by the footballing world in general. Probably has something to do with him always being a genuine, modest guy who just gets on with things without making a big deal out of how good he was or sticking himself infront of a camera to talk about his glory days as often as possible. It certainly can't be down to lack of skill because in all honesty most that know how good he was struggle when listing English footballers better than him.

Also loved the interview with Vuckic when he described his introduction to Beardsley. How he just thought he was 'some guy' showing him around the place until Ferguson showed him some Youtube videos and he was absolutely stunned.

He was the closest thing to an English Messi/Maradona but it seems hardly anyone but us give a ****. :/

Yeah a lot of his play makes me think of Messi!

My Dad's mate saw him in a hotel bar one evening, and all he had to drink was cold glasses of orange juice. No surprise that he played until he was 38 then!

We're a Pedro short of being a top 4 team.

We haven't really produced anything like him and I suspect we may never again. To be honest if he was playing now he'd be easily one of the best players in the world.

  13. He was the closest England will get to having a Messi.

True that, we do still need that small, pacy, skillful forward who can really cause problems (NO LOVENKRANDS ;) )

I'd personally say Beardsley was better.

We loved Beardo and even after Souness sold him to the bluesheite we still gave him a warm welcome back.

He was one of the best 'ever' players to wear a Liverpool shirt.

Best player I've seen live and I include Zidane, Ronaldo and Shola in that.
