OK yes we lost yesterday and were well beaten but lets not forget that three years ago this week we were playing away to Dagenham!

This club that we all love have shown this seaso that we can compete and beat the best. Yes we are on a sticky run but that's a result of our squad not having the depth of the top 6 - just look at Chelsea's bench yesterday.

It's a new year and the future for Saints is bright. We will finish in the top half this season and kick on from there. Stay positive folks and remember where we have come from and more importantly where we are going!

    COYR!

My thoughts exactly. I nearly didn't go yesterday as I was hung over, it was stormy, I had to travel 35 miles and it was on TV. But I thought back to when we were in league one and if someone had told me we'll be playing Chelsea in the league in the next couple of years I would have laughed.

We are in the middle of an incredible journey, and a wise man once said "there will be some bumps on the way, but we need to draw a line under it and not get too high when we win, or low when we lose. Let's take one game at a time" :)

    Wise, wise words... ;)

I can't deny that what you are saying is true but I still feel a tad deflated. Throughout my long association with Saints I have always been someone who has been able to live with the despair! It is the hope that kills you. A few times in 50 odd years I've thought, this is it. And I thought that this season especially after our excellent start. So I am disappointed that we have had a bit of a reality check.

That said, you are right. I'd rather have a slower progress to the top (if that happens) than a Man City/Chelsea type approach. And, yes, it was Dagenham 3 years ago.

Don't get me wrong I'm gutted when we lose as I'm sure MP and NC are but this is a long term proect not a bang and bust scheme. We jusy have to remember that.

Good stuff lambalana. Time for the team and the fans to show some character and push on from here. We're not on a level playing field with the west london billionares, but we've come a long way in a short time & the journey's not over yet.

We hit bottom and had to be rebuilt and luckily we got a man with a plan. West Ham came down with an expensive, large squad which got them back up. They then preceded to add to that squad, but more in the 'sticking plaster' method of team building. They will be in dire straits if they go down. They need radical changes, but for now they just need to avoid relegation (still possible).

:smiley-finger007: I love a Cup games, especially when we are on a poor run. Let's play a strong side and cheer up all the fans with a win<ok> or perhaps not:emoticon-0149-no:.

    Sorry, wrong thread.

Isn't this our first game with a definite loss and outplayed, not bad really considering we are half way through the season.
Most other losses could have easily been a draw.
    No panick here.

I still get confused by this forum, first I'm told to have ambition, but then told to have perspective.

    Which is it?

I want the players to have ambition and the fans to have perspective.

WHU are not a big club and never have been. They're not even a big club in London. They are a middle sized club who have had some very good times, but Moore, Hurst and Peters were their pinnacle [LeGod, I hate that word for some obscure reason].

I was humouring their own inflated sense of grandiosity, not suggesting that they actually are a big club :)
