Personally Speaking

The highs and lows and ups and downs
Who´d be without them, eh?
Especially when on such a high
We just prolonged our stay,
And speaking for myself again
I´d take this every year,
The knowledge that despite the downs
We would always be here,
And I cared less about the style
Or attacking intent,
Than many others seemed to do
Once Lambert and Co went,
This year was not about the how
We played, but only where,
We finished on the final day
And do it with no scare,
I know that some would have us sprint
Before we can but walk,
And being the eternal optimist
I applaud fighting talk,
But it takes time to build a club
Twenty-six years for some,
And already in but a few
Such a way we have come,
In 12th position as we speak
And with a win Sunday,
We could end up in the top half
At the closure of play,
With SuperMac and Bowkett here
Taking charge at the helm,
The trillions designated soon
Should help build Hughton´s realm,
And talk of whether he should stay
Or go, affects me not,
I have full faith in those above
That they´ll not lose the plot,
Before long we will be debt-free
And in these cash mad days,
How many other clubs can boast
Such worthiness of praise,
With plans afoot as well to lift
The roof off the main stand,
Quite literally, to give more room
For several thousand fans,
The future can only look bright
And for the youngsters too,
Not only those FA youth lads
Or those who´re in the queue,
With category 1 status now
All lads who do come in,
Will get the very best coaching
To help them go and win,
So speaking again for myself
This year´s been just as good,
As any recently we´ve had
Since Mac, he stemmed the flood,
So I´ll be lazing in the sun
Once this year´s dusted down,
Dreaming of what the ´wolf ´may do
When he´s let loose around. OTBC

Excellent as usual RBF and you've hit the 'nail on the head' again. You've even inspired me to have a go at a little bit of poetry -

Our usual No 1 is back,
It’s ‘Ruddy’ good to see
And whilst MB has served us proud,
He’s just not six foot three.

Let’s now go to the Etihad,
And play to win up there,
Let’s not go to ‘park the bus’,
But attack with a bit of flare!!!

 

Absolutely JR, no reflection on Bunny, but I would prefer the other JR between the sticks too.
