http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17855980 Frankly this is pathetic from him. This is the first time hes been faced with a season with no silverware, his Barcelona side have been bettered in every format and hes decided to run away. Hes going to take a year out. Might aswell make it the rest of his life as if he thinks the Barcelona job was hard hes got a whole world of surprises to come in his next job.
Don't think he's running because of no silverware. My God he didn't finish every season as a player with a medal.
All the signs point to that and a man made of excuses. Hes had the easiest job in football for 4 years and once it got tough he goes. Maybe its a massive coincidence but it seems far more likely hes felt the pressure and doesnt like it. Players and managers are worlds apart.
Maybe he's had enough of life at Barca and wants time to spend at home with his family realising that there are more important things in life than a job. Who knows?
For his sake I hope he doesn't end up at City or Chelsea. I can see him taking a break and then coming back to take over from SAF.
Quitter. Xavi past his prime and Madrid on the up. I think this decision should rule him out of the united job in a few years time.
He doesnt have the ability to manage in england. Its tough here and he wouldnt be able to handle it. He cracked under almost zero pressure at Barcelona.
He may not have the right mindset for England, I agree. But anyone who writes him totally off is a fool.
Not sure if he's cracked. He always suggested he wasn't going to be long term at Barca, hence the yearly rolling contract. He's young and has plenty of time to develop, I have a feeling he'll stay the course and be a great manger.
If you think you'll get another SAF then you better prepare yourself for a massive fall. I think he'll be a good fit, the next generation of Utd if you like. What in your eyes is the right type?
I think they'll just spending the end of the season polishing their CL winners medal collections then, god love em.
He was actually on the verge on leaving last summer but he was talked into staying for another year. He also said this last year after the champions league final last year so its nothing to do with not winning a trophy this season.
UIR you seem to just have some kind of issue against Guardiola. What do you have against him exactly? You seriously can't think that the failure to win UCL or league is the only reason he's quitting. It may have played a part but no way it's the only reason. They still have the chance to win a trophy remember? He's been on a one-year rolling contract all the time, which he hasn't been too eager to extend for the following season, and he's been talking about the possibility of leaving even when everything was going for him. And despite those two results everyone at the club would have loved to keep him, some pressure thati is. What are these signs and excuses you are talking about? Are managers only allowed to quit after winning a treble or something? "At the beginning of December I announced to the chairman that I was seeing the end of my era at Barcelona."
Just a strange coincidence that the first season of failure and hes off. Funny that, had say...Jose, Fergie, Wenger or anyone else done such a thing then they would be considered failures. Must be a Barcelona thing eh?
No but as manager of the greatest team on earth you probably get a feel for when things are going to start going down hill. Its easy when everythings going right. Much harder when you are up against it. For once he is and hes going. Sure he might of planned it and sure he may not like sticking around for long ( he wont leave Barcelona for a year ) but what sort of manager keeps hinting that hes going to quit sometime? Hes clearly not the manager people think he is. Regardless of him quitting the job hes also been telling people hes going to quit soon for a few years and told the chairman in december he was off. Way to install confidence in your players eh Pep. Genius.
