Think the ref has made a couple of massive penalty calls today - should never have been a penalty for them and we should definitely have had one when Hutton handballed in the box - maybe he needs a bit more experience (he's only 26) before reffing at this level.
TV replays show a very little holding by Traore, but don't think Abonxxxxx even noticed it! There were 2 Villa hands in their penalty area, the first at least was a pen. Warnock just said "their No 10, whoever he was" should have been sent off! But great to get the goal at the end - Young worked hard for that, right up in their box.
I wouldn't have liked to make the penalty calls today. Traore did have his hand on Agbonlahor, although it didn't look like it impeded him. That said, I'd be calling for it if it was the other way around. But you're right Agbonlahor did look for a corner. I think the fairest thing is to say that it wasn't a penalty and neither was our hand ball call. Hutton didn't do much wrong. Thank heavens justice was dealt in the end. I would have been suicidal if we'd lost today. We've got to convert pressure into goals or run the risk of a smash and grab. Anyone else think our style of play suits larger pitches and we're likely to play better away from home as a result? It looked like SWP struggled to find room to use his pace and Barton never really got going. Still Taarabt was a bit good at times wasn't he? Most dangerous player on the pitch today.
I don't think it was, but for ****s sake why do defenders hold opponents tops?????? Asking for trouble.
Traore was ball watching and let Agbonlahor get in front of him then gave away the penalty bad defending by Traore if you ask me but now who is gonna play at left back against Fulham now hill was shipped out to forest.
Shocking referee performance to be honest. NW called it right, how their defenders didn't get 2nd yellow in latter stages is beyond me. Their pen was extremely harsh and no doubt about the first handball for our shout. As for second shout, I would say that would have been a harsh call against their defender (I'd be gutted if that'd been called against us).
Shirt pull by Traore, if Agbonlahor was impeded or not doesn't matter. Like it or not, Traore gave the ref an excuse and Oliver had every right to give it. It was soft as s*** and very rarely given though. But that we didn't get one of our own annoyes me, thought the first one should def have been given, when it wasn't, 99 out of 100 refs would compensate and give the second. Almost like Oliver didn't give em' afraid of being accused of compensating...
Really pissed off about this game. We should have been two up in the first half. Bothroyd is not good enough at this level, penalty was soft, we should have had at least one, Traore sent off, their defence could have had 2 red cards. I am ****ing fuming!!!!! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
The Ref had a mare, to give a penalty for Villa when no-one else appealed for it was being ultra-pedantic. Then, to compound the injustice he denies as clear-cut a spot-kick as you'll see at the other end. The other penalty appeal was ball to hand, but when important decisions are handled so poorly it leaves you really pissed-off. Thank God we got the own goal, poetic justice in the end...
