Question: Why was Charlie Adam chosen (or self chosen) to take
the spot kick when Dirk Kuyt was on the park?

Because Adam has been fairly good at taking penalties, Kuyt missed the last one where people were calling for Adam to take it. If you miss you can't win.

Hmm.... I must admit i was expecting Dirk to step up. Adam missed one recently and Dirk's usually
    been Mr. Reliable.

Which one did Adam miss again? How many penalties have we missed out of what amount in the PL this season? Think it's 0/3 but not too sure.

Welcome to the forum btw. <ok>

Suarez, Dirk, Adam have all missed in the PL. Adam scored against WBA. So 1/4 have been scored. 1/5 in all competitions.

That is truly awful. Hindsight always kicks in after a penalty miss though. Had kuyt taken it he could have just as easily miss it too. Sums up our luck for the season though.

We had plenty of direct free kicks though. We have Bellers, Saurez and Adam who can usually put a good one in but the only one to go in this season was from Stevie. No good if he's not playing ffs.

b4 2nite Adam was the only successful pen taker for us this season, and hadnt missed for us, perhaps thats why he took it

look if you were drawing up a list for say the carling semi the five would be gerrard, kuyt, adam, suarez, bellamy.

in other words thats got proven pen takers from 5 different sides... adam was perfect last year, kuyt has shown great pen form for us, suarez for uraguay.... in the end the set pieces as a total package have been sub standard IMO. we seem to focus on passing and movement and simply ignore the basis of the games the likes of stoke bring to the table. Harsh? yes but there you go

oh i dunno.... he's a good keeper but if you watch adam before taking it he telegraphed where he was putting it and it was a lovely height etc for a keeper.

i saw a good performance but no amazing saves.... time i think to get over the bad luck thing and admit we are wasting chances and only have ourselves to blame really.

Kuyt has scored all his goals from the left handside, goalkeepers now know this based on the last penalty being saved.

Would of perfered Suarez taking the pen seeing as he needed a goal to shut the fans up but everything looks good in retrospective.

Such things are usually decided before the game with Kenny's knowledge
