Not saying there is a bias towards the top teams but just don’t, and never have, agreed with the old “swings and roundabouts” argument. Yes I realise there are more “swings and roundabouts” in a football game/season than penalties but would not anticipate we are top of any of the other tables either.

Thought the lack of penalties might be associated with lack of chances created as we were not big scorers. However we are actually 8th in league in terms of chances created but 14th in goals scored. Just highlights where our weakness is.
Ordinarily, I'd agree, but the fact you have Palace, Brighton, Everton, Man Utd up there suggests otherwise. Man City spend each match camped on the opposition's penalty box, but the others do not. The other teams doing well on penalty count play counter-attacking football largely, and have players that are either reputable divers, or else have a bit of pace and guile to put doubt/worry in a defender's mind about where the ball will end up if they go for a tackle, a hesitation which usually costs them that fraction of a second that means when they actually put in a tackle, the ball has gone. Zaha is not a world class footballer, and if I were a defender I'd probably prefer him to shoot, than make me put a foot in. Whether you get the ball or not, he'll be flopping on the deck like a goldfish. In the last five premier league seasons, he is one of the top penalty winners, next to Sterling, Vardy, Shane Long, Aaron Lennon (pace), David Silva, Hazard (guile), Dele Alli and Kane (divers).
